Slaves use to make fun of other slaves who could read on the plantation.. What are you talking about?

That wasn't a popular thing. In fact, right after slavery ended and entered the Reconstruction Era, those individuals were basically condemned when black folks were reaching social mobility FAST.

Lets not act like outside forces don't exist...
What's stopping people concerned about their people from helping their people without help from other people?

When you send these children home with the simplest assignments, the parents will not REINFORCE what the teacher taught them in school. Sure there are those who go the extra mile to learn, but you do have a very large portion who's not getting the support at home. And you have posters who think you need a pocket full of money to help a 5 year old on learning to read.

Dude.. If nobody in your personal life encourages your academic success, you may still end up with piss poor results despite having the best teachers/schools. Education has to be cultivated outside of the four walls of a school building..
This is the part that keeps getting glossed over and excused

Expecting the school/government/nice white people to do everything for you is a huge problem with us.

This shyt starts at home

No excuse for this.

Can't blame the white man, bc even slaves taught each other how to read.

I have personally noticed some kids who are 16-ish and they aren't where I was at 16 in terms of pronunciation and knowing the meaning of words when reading .

And these kids go to good schools. Some of it is phones just being a supreme distraction in school
I blame parents. No reinforcement. This is why you shouldn't have more than 1 child if you can't put time into them.

Not only that. But these so called black posters b*tch and moan 24/7 about white supremacy.. Yet will still send their kids to sit down in front of a white supremacist to get educated. These kids not stupid. They know these white teachers don't give a sh*t about them and merely tolerating then until the bell rings.

This can be blamed on parents more than anything else. If you're ever around high achieving Asians, you can tell they're super competive when it comes to academics. This is because their parents beat them for not being at the top of their class and send them to tutoring outside of school. Compared to going to a predominantly black school the attitudes aren't even close.

I do now. The article said not proficient in literacy not illiterate.

Literacy- the ability to read and write.

illiterate

1
: having little or no education,
especially unable to read or write

2
: showing or marked by a lack of acquaintance with the fundamentals of a particular field of knowledge

3
a
:
violating approved patterns of speaking or writing
b
: showing or marked by a lack of familiarity with language and literature

Not proficient in literacy= a lack of fundamentals. (The fundamental would be literacy here smart guy). If someone isn’t proficient in literacy it also means the violate the pattern of writing.

We need to change how the foundation of learning is TAUGHT. Excess book reports and time away from your family and your hobbies leads to hatred and the mentality of escapism.
