I'm thinking the goal for this year is playoffs since next year is gonna be the big shakeup. I'm going to assume Atkins and Chicago came to some agreement before the trade was made (similar to LA and plum) and will be back in 2026 when everyone is a FA. At that point Sloot should get replaced, be it from FA or whoever we draft at 10 this year.

Long story short, we are gonna have to wait and see how it plays out. The deal could backfire, or can work out. Too many unknowns. But it's def a risky ass move depending on how things play out.

It's a win now move, in the sense of compared to a long term rebuild move. Probably a better way to state it, but I digress. The point is that I think he's looking to expedite the speed at which we contend vs taking the slow route of going through the draft by drafting a great two-way player in Atkins and essentially creating our core of Angel/Kamilla/Atkins.

But even then, we still have multiple picks in this year's draft, next year, and assuming we're good, the only pick lost in 2027 is a second round.

Yeah, would've preferred to give them the 10 pick but it is what it is. If Olivia doesn't declare for the draft or gets selected at 2, I'll feel better. Having Soni also would of been nice but again, it's looking like Jeff wants to go with the proven player and win asap. If we had a core of Angel/Kamilla/Soni, FAs next year may see us as a long term rebuilding team and not consider us. With this move and the new facility opening up, that should make us more attractive
