I like the Kathryn Winnick pick, she might be busy with finishing up Vikings and Wu Assassins but she has the look and is a legit martial artist in real life

He's a good actor though and can fight. Plus I don't anticipate a ton of really dramatic scenes for the movie. You keep the story basic and really deliver on the fight choreography and action the series is known for.

Lin Kuei vs Shirai Ryu war and assassin politics fukkery
Cyber Lin Kuei civil war fukkery
White Lotus Shaolin defenders of earthrealm fukkery
Outworld vs EVERYBODY fukkery
Netherrealm demonic fukkery
Elder Gods fukkery

Plus theres so many grudge matches and personal beefs

You could do a whole arc of Sonya Jax and Johnny vs Kano and Kabal and The Black Dragon

A whole arc of Raiden, Kitana, Liu and Lao vs Shang Tsung, Goro, Sindel and Shao Khans Outworld,

And then a final one focusing on Sub Zero (Bi-Han), Kuai Liang (Sub Zero 2) Scorpion and Quan Chi with Shinnoks amulet playing the background to wrap things up before the 1st Tournament
