:scusthov: Portland steps on da same dog crap taking Mr. Glass over Kevin Durant.

That was the basketball culture back then tho..

“big men win championships”

Oden over KD was some stupid shyt however

Yall keep saying this but we were alive and of age for that draft. Oden was the better prospect. Even going into the draft there was a whole “Is Portland bout to pass on an all time great?” conversation going on. Nobody could foresee Oden being hurt so bad AND Roy having knee injuries he couldn’t bounce back from. So @Rekkapryde is right and we need to stop this revisionist history.

That Oden shyt scared GMs so much that Hinkie was criticized for taking an injured Embiid... a bet that paid off. Funny how this draft shyt works cuz Wiggins was the consensus #1 that year even tho his Kansas teammate showed more potential.

Wonder if the Suns will be looked at as the new Blazers.Took Ayton when they could've drafted Doncic. They'd have company, tho.

3-4 other teams passed on him, to

Ayton was the consensus pick. Doncic had a lot of doubters. I was actually a fan but check out that Coli thread and see how many “that slow euro cac will be a bust” posts there are. The real losers are the Kings they were supposed to take him. They had euro coaches...made the most sense. At least the Hawks flipped it into Trae + Cam Reddish.

I don’t even know if Ayton is good or not, but he was definitely the consensus #1 so they won’t get flack for picking him

You can't keep making excuses for gm mistakes. Injury filled career or not a bad pick is a bad pick

From my vantage Oden was overhyped and even in college wasn’t that good. He was a dominant physical specimen but pretty raw.

KD had one of the G.O.A.T. freshman college seasons.

It was big man bias.

If Embiid didn’t get hurt he had leapfrogged both Wiggins and Jabari.

Wiggins was the consensus top pick prior to the season but Embiid quickly surpassed him.

I don't wanna really go back and forth about if Oden was good in college or not but Oden did play basically his entire freshman season with a cast on his right hand. Despite this he still averaged almost 16/10.
