Moga Pro game controller announced, will arrive in the spring

moga-pro-control.jpg

The Moga Pro is designed to fit perfectly in your hands with full-sized console trigger grips. The Moga Pro also brings all of the physical buttons you’d expect such as a directional pad, 4 actions buttons, dual analog, shoulder pads and shoulder triggers.

The Moga Pro will also include a USB charging cord, rechargeable batteries and a tablet stand. The controller features full support for the existing MOGA Pivot app and syncs to your Android devices using Bluetooth technology.

When is the next-gen Moga controller arriving? We don’t have a specific date, but the company says it will arrive sometime in the Spring of 2013. Unfortunately, they have yet to reveal any pricing details at this point. We do know that the original MOGA control currently retails for $50, so hopefully the Pro version won’t cost too much more than the older model.

Samsung Sold Close To 500 Handsets Per Minute In Q4 2012

Samsung-logo.jpg

Samsung is continuing its climb and journey for market domination as new information reveals the South Korean phone-maker might have sold as much as 500 handsets every minute in the last quarter of 2012. For the same period its quarterly profit appears to be likely around $8.1 billion, according to a Reuters report.

The Samsung Galaxy S III, followed by the Galaxy Note II, had a crucial role for the company in achieving this goal. The strong portfolio of products is also crucial for Samsung. While competitors like Apple have released only one model, HTC 18 models, Nokia 9, and LG 24, Samsung has unleashed a whopping 37 phones and variants.

However, the winning streak which has been going on for five consecutive quarters might come to a halt in Q1 2013, notes Reuters, because of “weak seasonal demand”.

Nonetheless, the Galaxy S IV is expected to be an even bigger blockbuster than its predecessor — every Galaxy S model outperformed the previous one — but Samsung is expected to launch the phone in sometime in Q2.

LG Hints At Another Nexus

As LG started focusing its presentation more on specific smartphone models, it got to talking about the Nexus 4 a little, and its comment that the phone is “the first in a growing partnership” suggests that handset collaboration with Google could be more than a one-off event. Maybe we’re not talking another phone, exactly, but it sounds like at least something could be in the works.

Could Nokia Release Android Devices? “Anything Is Possible,” Says Elop

Even though it’s publicly committed to Windows Phone, Nokia can’t seem to shake rumors that it might one day consider making Android handsets. After all, the company produces some beautiful, functional hardware, but its decision to go with the least popular major smartphone OS around is keeping a whole lot of otherwise interested customers from checking out its offerings. While the company’s Windows Phone enthusiasm shows no signs of wavering, there’s still the chance that Nokia might think about diversifying itself a little sometime in the future, at least according to a new interview with CEO Stephen Elop.

When asked about the possibility of releasing an Android handset, Elop reiterated that Windows Phone is where Nokia’s interests are right now, but said that the company is always looking at what it should do next. He moved away from the idea of an Android device a bit, talking instead about how HTML5-based phones could make how we currently differentiate between platforms start to become less and less meaningful, but was clear about one thing: when it comes to Nokia’s future, anything is possible.

That Vizio tablet looks promising. I was sold on the Nexus 10, but I waited so long to buy it that I might well hold off for something better now. :manny:

HTC Posts Lowest Net Income Since 2004

htc-logo-square1.png

HTC was down 61% in October 2012, compared to the same period of 2011, and it doesn’t look like things are getting better for the Taiwanese phone maker. According to new financial figures the company has posted its lowest profit since 2004.

The net income for the last quarter of 2012 was NT$1 billion ($34 million), much less than the NT$10.9 billion posted in 2011. These figures represent HTC’s lowest profit recorded in the last eight years, due mainly to strong competition from Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy phones which continued to steal market share from the Taiwanese company, as Bloomberg notes. On the Windows Phone side, there is strong competition from Nokia who is also dealing with its own crisis.

However, HTC is expected to launch more innovative devices at this year’s CES and MWC, like the rumored M7, following-up on the 1080p screen equipped Droid DNA or Butterfly. Whether that will be enough to keep HTC from sinking dep

I can't see ever using anything other than swype. Another update out today for those that use it. We finally get proper auto-spacing in the browser, and more general performance improvements. Grammar suggestions too.

If I tap typed, I'd probably use swiftkey. But for blind people that looks awesome.

Alcatel Claims "World's Thinnest" Title at 6.45mm

nexusae0_Idol-Ultra_thumb1.jpg

nexusae0_ScribeHD_thumb.jpg

The Idol Ultra is pretty similar in features to other high-end Android phones, with an HD (presumably 720p) AMOLED screen, a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor of indiscriminate origin, 1GB of RAM, and an 8MP rear camera. On-board storage isn't mentioned, but there's no SD card slot. Alcatel mentions that the device is already running Jelly Bean 4.1... albeit in skinned form, judging by the rendered images. With a footprint of 134.4x68.5mm, it's roughly the same size as the Galaxy Nexus, minus the girth on the z-axis. Battery size (a serious consideration for this high-end space) is not addressed.
