The franchise will go on like it always has. Has anyone here outside a few of us watched James Bond before 2006?
I have and this is an entirely different era in terms of thought and politics whose impact on the film industry you are really overlooking in thinking James Bond is safe...

People are much more open to the idea of a new 007 that isn't James Bond which was unimaginable and downright blasphemy before Craig...

Personally I been done with white Bond, its why I wish Idris took the 007 roll but I understand why the breh didn't want it...

That also assumes he wasn’t offered the role.

Once again, if the person in charge of the franchise says bond is bond and he will always be bond, then I rock with her. Her idea of creating dope women around him and having their own stories is also cool. But she knows what butters her bread and unlike ghostbusters or terminator, there hasn’t been an actual financial need to shake up the franchise. There’s no law of diminishing returns financially with bond. When he “reboots” again, it’ll be the way it’s always been done. New guy in the tux and the adventures continue. Craig was the first hard reboot while everyone else has been soft reboots within existing continuity

They didn't have to shakeup Ghostbusters or Terminator though...

For Ghostbusters we just wanted another movie with the original cast from the first two movies regardless how flabby and sick they maybe...After Egon died that dream also died but no one who cared about this franchise asked or wanted an all female cast...We'd rather they make no movie than that trash they tried to pass off as a Ghostbusters movie...For Terminator we wanted that mothafukka James Cameron to give us a future war movie...That's all we've wanted since T2, instead all we get is consistent trash and when Cameron finally comes back they hit us with the swerve because MeToo era...:beli:

Yes the Bond franchise always been profitable putting a new dude in a tux and saying go but that's the past fam...Things have changed quite a bit and the formula has gotten tiresome...Broccoli said James Bond is a male character, she didn't say anything about James Bond having to be 007...We took that for granted because James Bond and 007 were synonymous for 50+ years up until this upcoming film where James Bond for the first time ever is not 007...That's important because for the first time they've opened the door to the idea of an older retired James Bond taking a backseat to a new 007 rather than going back to the young dude with a tux...

Anyways we'll find out the future direction of the franchise when the film drops...I just hope this shyt is more like Casino Royale than that trash Spectre...

Thanks for chill conversation breh...

I disagree on Ghostbusters but I've had that discussion on here ad nauseam and don't have any desire to do it again. And terminator, if this is what James Cameron wants to do, then let him do it:manny: It's his franchise and his baby; whatever ride he wants to take me on, I'll buy a ticket. If I don't like said ride, cool, but I'm not going to tell the creator of a thing he's not entitled to do what he wants with it. The last two Terminator movies haven't done what the studio wanted finically or critically. So yeah, it was in need of something.

And your last point is true but I don't see it happening. You can reinvent while keeping what's there. The franchise has done it pretty much since 1969. Any time a new Bond takes over, it reinvents itself and adapts. Even something as small as him no longer being a smoker or not having a lot of sex in the last two 80s bond movies because AIDS became a thing everyone was worried about. Barbara and Michael are keepers of the flame and them saying James Bond will no longer be 007 just doesn't strike me as something they'd do. The idea of a white guy in a tux may be tired to some, true, but until the money bears that out, and it hasn't, the ship continues on its path

it's obvious she's not bond. she's the number which makes sense story-wise.
I'm just hear for the white tears.
though I wish it was a black man though. That would really get them.

I don't think 007 and James Bond were ever separate. Why can't she be 008 or 009 or 010? There are other numbers.

He's never actually been retired before. He's talked about it. He's flirted with it. He's even sent in his resignation letter. But the department must move on without him. Doesn't mean she's permanently 007, just means while he's been retired from active duty for X amount of years, she's been the new 007. If this is true because it's still coming from a British tabloid and no other source has confirmed it

There's probably other agents with those numbers, other 00 designations have been mentioned before.

If Bond retired, why wouldn't they give that number to someone else?

And regarding the Terminator, there has been a female Terminator before. This is a sequel to T2, why wouldn't Sarah Connor be in this one?
