I disagree on Ghostbusters but I've had that discussion on here ad nauseam and don't have any desire to do it again. And terminator, if this is what James Cameron wants to do, then let him do it:manny: It's his franchise and his baby; whatever ride he wants to take me on, I'll buy a ticket. If I don't like said ride, cool, but I'm not going to tell the creator of a thing he's not entitled to do what he wants with it. The last two Terminator movies haven't done what the studio wanted finically or critically. So yeah, it was in need of something.

And your last point is true but I don't see it happening. You can reinvent while keeping what's there. The franchise has done it pretty much since 1969. Any time a new Bond takes over, it reinvents itself and adapts. Even something as small as him no longer being a smoker or not having a lot of sex in the last two 80s bond movies because AIDS became a thing everyone was worried about. Barbara and Michael are keepers of the flame and them saying James Bond will no longer be 007 just doesn't strike me as something they'd do. The idea of a white guy in a tux may be tired to some, true, but until the money bears that out, and it hasn't, the ship continues on its path
What do you mean you disagree about ghostbusters

I believe it did need to be reenergized if you were going to keep it around and wanted to do something with it.
Energize who ? ghostbuster fandom wasnt asking for that. They didn’t serve to energize anyone just enrages both the fan base ( which is pretty loyal if the cons I see ) and the incels. Women didn’t rush out to see it either and no one went to see it like spy the heat or bridesmaids

Fandom is always going to be around tho. At least in my experience. Perfect example is this thread. There are those who feel Bond needs to be reenergized. Not just here but in the media as well. But then you’ve got some hardcore bond fans who say “nah ah”

For me, it needed something different. And I was down for different. And the last thing I’d be worried about is pissing off incels. fukk em

They pissed off incels which doesn’t later and the fan base which is why the movie did bad .Also Paul Feig was Katherine Kennedy levels of arrogant when fans didn’t like the idea and assumed that they were all incels trying to mute any criticism of the movie as being simply that . Also the movie wasn’t good .Ghostbusters fans wanted a real third movie they never were asking for this they even got upset at the rumored Seth rogen featured movie that was proposed years ago .
If casino royale was a bad movie Craig’s James Bond’s would of been fighting a uphill battle for years . Instead it was a change that worked .
It’s like how despite the changes to Spider-Man for the mcu it works since they are good movies with a great Spider-Man and cast

Yeh I hear you. Disagree with the sentiment but I hear it. I think they assume it’s arrogance because they disagree with the creative choices. And I’m sorry, but a lot of that ghostbusters shyt stemmed from grown men not liking women playing with their toys. Were there some who objected for actually mature and valid reasons? Yes. But those voices are drowned out by racists and petulant children. I have no sympathy for them. Never will

And the same goes for a lot of bond fans. A lot of them on Twitter and other places don’t want the series to progress. They threw fits when word cane down phoebe was adding to the script. They take issue with the term “Bond girl” being phased out. Or even him being in service to a woman or a black person. So guys like that make it harder to hear someone who has legitimate complaints. Even this rumored story beat? The loudest people complaining are taking issue with it being a black woman.

The franchise will go on like it always has. Has anyone here outside a few of us watched James Bond before 2006?

I feel like lowkey Tomorrow Never Dies is MORE relevant today than it was when it came out with the plot of the main villain controlling and manipulating the media to make profit outof. Plus I remember outside of Terri Hatcher, that they were trying to spin-off a Bond Girl series with the asian bond girl making her on-par rank wise and skill wise with Bond. Kinda funny that the spin-off didn't get to take off then, but now seeing that a female will be the new 007 rank makes me think that they lowkey will try to do it again.

They tried to spin off jinx from die another day. That was the plan. Then they got the rights back for casino royale and they shelved it. But from what the writers have said, the tone would’ve been in line with casino royale.

And tomorrow never dies is extremely relevant. You could take that villain plot today and make something pretty dark and damning

Wait... I thought they drop the Jinx spin-off because everyone hated Die Another Day? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just remember everyone trying to wash their hands from anything related to that movie.
