Official 007: NO TIME TO DIE Thread

This is pretty much where I am. They fukked up by straying too far from Casino Royale. Bond was young and growing into the role. He was still Bond but rough around the edges. You had M there to be his mother and make sure he matured into the man/agent we all know him to be.

But for some reason each time they made a film it was super different. I get that times change and that audiences can change on a dime. I also note that other spy films like Mission Impossible and the Bourne movies came out too, but Bond is Bond.

Another thing that gets me, and I know someone will twist this, but as things went on, Bond became less and less important in his own shyt. By the end of the Craig run it was basically Charlie's Angels feat. James Bond. Lynch, Frenchie and the girl with the eyes were all doing their own thing and could have just saved the day. They even had sexy eyes just......leave. Like, wtf? Skyfall was the last great Craig Bond and that was the halfway point. And even in that one they were trying to put Bond in a retirement home.

I feel you. Imo Quantam of Solace was better than Skyfall. Skyfall was cool but I felt like it turned away from that flashy zany Bond into more of the "taking itself too seriously" BS.

They tried to tap into that original zany shyt again in the last few movies, but failed because they were making fun of Bond. They tried to be all "PC" about shyt and how he's aged out and how diversity is in.

Rather than seeing things through his eyes.

Case in point, let's talk about what went wrong with No Time To Die.


So the issue starts with the new black chick 007.

Instead of their relationship being adversarial and disconnected with the whole "I'm the new 007, you're just an old white dude, don't try anything old man, I know everything even though I'm obviously less experienced" vibe.

They could have introduced her in either a cooler funner way or a more mysterious cunning way. I personally would've preferred her to be a bit reckless, cocky, and cunning like Casino Royale bond was. Instead of the whole "corporate" way she was introduced. She could've been written A LOT better. She came off like a huge unlikeable bytch forreal. If she's 007 have her be THE MOTHERFUKKING 007.

She came off as incompetent and a symptom of a failing Ml6. Like they tried to both bring DEI into the movie - yet shyt on it at the same time. Which basically made her the most unlikable banal disposable characters in the whole damn movie.

They dropped the ball heavily.

And another thing, that other hot ClA Cuban chick they had helping Bond infiltrate the Quantam meeting.

Instead of writing her as a literal charicature of "Omg I only had 2 weeks training i never held a gun b4 loll im so new yayy also eww i hate sex ur an old man"

They could've introduced her in a more serious fashion, kind of like a damsel, where she's trying to put on appearances to keep up with Bond. But in reality has almost no experiences, but can definitely hold her own. And instead of her rejecting Bond in such a "ewww old man" kinda way. She could've gracefully kept it professional and flirty, without sacrificing her "womanhood".

If y'all ain't really watch No Time To Die. Then the main sidekick chick from Quantam of Solace was an EXCELLENT example of how to write a deep nuanced female character in a Bond film.

Whole fukking movie felt unserious and tried to be a meta modern critique of a Bond film. Ultimately falling flat in every metric. You can tell they forgot that Bond films actually have to have a villian and just threw some shyt at the wall towards to end with that Freddie Mercury dude. Shyt didn't even make sense he was way too young anyways.

Anyways, I'm a bit all over the place but you should catch what I'm putting down.
