The most charitable interpretation is you could say that they thought it was "okay" because Kanye's also black...or at the very least an issue that's internal in the black community and none of their business (but even then you gotta side-eye all the black people in power that never called him out and raised an issue with these companies). Or they felt that he was just off his meds and being manipulated into self-hate, and so let it pass. Either way, they might have felt disciplining a black person over comments about black people was a "do not touch" situation.

But still, that's being charitable. The optics still look bad. They'll ignore black folks but protect ethnic whites.

This isn't even mental illness or him not taking his meds. Kanye asked for this. I truly believe this is how he wants to be remembered: as a villain. He wants people decades from now to be writing articles and think pieces about whether he was this insane genius and people waxing poetic about his behavior. Even if he gets canceled now, he wants to be this martyr for thinking "outside of the box" regardless of what it costs him as long ad it cements his place in history regardless if he's viewed negatively.
