VH1 which used to be MTV for old people found that old people with money and jobs still watch tv and adjusted.
BET was bought out and still found that black people love tv and if you produce content for black americans they will watch tv.
mtv ignores older audience minority audience, focuses on trying to out NIckolodean Nickolodean and fails, tries to out do Fox and networks and fails. It doesn't have an idea what audience to market to, while still having bullshyt ass awards shows.

They clearly need new leadership, there is money to be made and they are squandering opportunity

I put on mtv the other day...the tv schedule was nothing but episodes of ridiculousness...maybe some people dont wanna watch the same show all day
That's all they show along with teen mom & tv show reruns & movies.

They need to change their name to RRMTV since they show mainly reruns, movies, and terrible reality tv. :troll: Hey why not keep the M in Mtv? We do show Movies, and that starts with an M. :troll:

Total Request Live was a staple on MTV from 1998-2008 -- a daily destination for all of your music and pop culture needs. And now, the unforgettable New York-based program is returning.

The TRL franchise will debut on Monday, October 2. The daily live show will air from the network’s iconic Times Square studio and become the prime destination for youth culture and a meeting point for millions of fans.

“If we’re going to come back and reinvent MTV, the studio is a given,” MTV President Chris McCarthy revealed during an interview with The New York Times. “It is the centerpiece.”

The new and improved 8,700-square-foot, multi-functional studio allows for bigger audiences, expansive sets and simultaneous productions including new digital extensions of TRL. The program, which will initially run an hour a day (but might expand to a longer format), will feature a rotation of five rotating hosts including D.C. Young Fly, Erik Zachary, Amy Pham, Tamara Dhia and Lawrence Jackson. The digital extensions will feature platform-specific, premium content across YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Musical.ly.

“It’s the right route,” McCarthy told the newspaper. “When you talk to artists and they say to you, unaware of what we’re doing, 'Can you bring back TRL'? We’d be crazy not to reinvent that.”

“MTV’s reinvention,” he added, “is coming by harnessing its heritage.”

Too late for TRL, the demographic they are aiming for doesn't watch TV unless it is Walking Dead or sports in October.

TRL thrived when internet access was limited and cable packages were far and few in between..

Now every 5-17 year old boy and girl can stream their favorite performers on YouTube or Vevo and not wait for a top 10 countdown with commercial breaks you can't skip/ff through..

TRL belongs in the media graveyard with 106&Park, MySpace, etc....

So they got tired of a decade of bytching about a network that's called music television and doesn't play music. :obama: maybe bet will bring byke rap city and really bring byke uncut
People can watch music videos on demand now. We don't need Music TV. MTV is like KFC the letters don't mean anything anymore. They dropped the name Music TV a while ago.

It still won't be the same.

The musical climate had changed too many times in the last couple of years.

But I wish MTV luck.

Viacom and clear channel did more damage to music and the radio in the last 20 years that is impossible to reverse.

They are the reasons we have this b*stard musical climate.

shyt reminds me how racist sports networks tried to bury Tiger woods. Then when he was never able to perform as he once was and golf ratings plummeted these same networks turned around and asked what was wrong with golf and where did all the fans go.

Dumb b*stards helped kill the golden goose.

This. It's why ESPN is struggling too.

No one needs sports highlights when they're on youtube/ twitter/instagram seconds after they occur
