Japan, but from the 989
If these hollywood execs had any type of sense they would see that the future is not in movie theaters anymore. They need to movie these movies to streaming services. Bypass the traditional method and go straight to the consumer. You want to watch Avengers 3? 25.00 dollars at home PPV. Same day as in theaters. Turn the theaters into a niche selling point because some people still like going to the theaters. Or only have the small movies on PPV and the big ones at the theaters. But someone has to get around the technology curve on this if Hollywood wants to do better...or they are going to end up like the Music Industry.

yea but if there's hd quality versions streaming on PPV then that means there's gonna be hd quality rips out there for pirating.

movie sales would go the way of cd sales almost instantly.

That's why you invest in new technology to stop the pirating. Find a way make the versions only visible to the human eye. The same way if you put a camera to the computer screen today, the camera will see lines moving up and down but we don't notice them...but in reverse. I don't know... lol come up with something new and inventive to protect the asset. But, they will figure out something since they are not making as much as they are used to. It's capitalism...they will find a way to get their money.

About GODDAMN TIME! Just like Napster shook up the music industry, time for Hollywood to advance. In the past year I only saw "The Heat" wit the wife & "DBZ Battle of the Gods" wit my lil bro. All these fuccn sequels & unoriginal storylines :camby: In the :trash:

Exactly. I keep telling ppl that PPV streams IS NOT THE ANSWER. The movie industry isn't comparable to the music industry because going to the movies is a SOCIAL event. No matter how big your tv is and how crazy your home theater entertainment system is, it still will not replicate the EXPERIENCE of going to a movie. If you want to make a parallel to the music industry it's the same experience as going to a concert, it's social. Allowing HD ppv will cause them to effectively cannibalize themselves. It wouldn't make any sense, instead of watching the PPV stream the day of, like you said they'll just wait for the bootlegger to upload it for free.

Why are PPV streams out of the question? Yes Pirating could be an issue. But maybe they do something where the Movie is out in theaters for the 1st month then you can stream the movie a month later for like 25-30. That way they still make their theater money but now they are going to get PPV money. I think the PPV "New Releases" could make Hollywood Billions. Imagine 1 Million homes buying it. That's 30 Million dollars right there. If 5 Million homes buy it that's 150 Million which would be a success at the box office. I think Hollywood will resist at 1st but PPV New Release Movies are in the pipeline folks. If we have PPV boxing and sports. Why not movies for new releases?

I'm glad Summer's over. We got a couple of good flicks to finish out the year:

True. I'm kinda getting tired of Nazi and World War II movies. But this one is a little unique as it's about a "TANK" unit so we rarely see war movies that focuses on the guys that drives the tank. Plus it's directed by David Ayer, he wrote "Training Day" and a ton of great Cop type of movies. His last movie though "Sabotage" With Arnold flopped. But I think he's a good writer. So we will see. But based on the line up (FALL/WINTER > SUMMER) This fall is looking really strong to me. Here's the trailer:

not just the box office, its the entire economy that is slowing....been seeing articles in the weakness of the once mighty housing market and casinos around the country in financial distress. folks are watching their disposable income if they in fact have income.

This is true. I took my kid to see Ninja Turtles and there was a family of 7 in front of me (husband, wife and 5 kids). Their tickets came to $65 :damn: and then they went to the concession stand. I know that is an extreme case but people can't afford that shyt anymore
