cliffs, Main Street is tapped out!

Even the Council on Foreign Relations Is Saying It: Time to Rain Money on Main Street
September 1, 2014

http://ellenbrown.com/2014/09/01/ev...-saying-it-time-to-rain-money-on-main-street/

There is a third reason for handing the job to the Fed. It is actually in the interest of the banks – the Fed’s real constituency – to issue a national dividend to the laboring masses. Interest and fees cannot be squeezed from people who are bankrupt. Creditor and debtor are in a symbiotic relationship. Like parasites and cancers, compound interest grows exponentially, doubling and doubling again until the host is consumed; and we are now at the end stage of that cycle. To keep the host alive, the creditors must restock their food source. Dropping money on Main Street is thus not only the Fed’s last bullet but is a critical play for keeping the game going.

going to the theater sucks ass. plus its too expensive for most to do regularly. who wants to sit in a crowded ass theater to watch a movie, where some a$$hole has his phone out in front of you and its fukking glowing right in your face, and some dikkface brings his young kid to a movie and hes sitting behind you kicking your seat all movie, and some dipshyt a couple seats over is talking with his friends all movie long. it costs like 12 bucks to get a shot of soda and an ounce of popcorn. if the movie is a popular new release, you have to get there early to line up and make sure you get a seat where youre not looking damn near vertically at the screen from the front few rows. sound and picture quality is obviously better in the theater, but imo the difference between a home theater and dealing with that bullshyt at the actual theater for a fraction of the price isnt large enough to justify going constantly to the movies, and its way more convenient to watch at home

:dead:

most of the newer theatres breh at least the ones my girl i frequent are reserved seating.. you just reserve em on the fandango app and show up.. i even show up right when the previews about to end sometimes

and they're more leveled seating and spaced out and the reclining seats takes away the possibility of being kicked from a young kid :ahh:

Why are PPV streams out of the question? Yes Pirating could be an issue. But maybe they do something where the Movie is out in theaters for the 1st month then you can stream the movie a month later for like 25-30. That way they still make their theater money but now they are going to get PPV money. I think the PPV "New Releases" could make Hollywood Billions. Imagine 1 Million homes buying it. That's 30 Million dollars right there. If 5 Million homes buy it that's 150 Million which would be a success at the box office. I think Hollywood will resist at 1st but PPV New Release Movies are in the pipeline folks. If we have PPV boxing and sports. Why not movies for new releases?
25$ to watch a movie at home? :mjlol:

Should be no reason it cost $20 for 1 adult and an 11 yr old kid(my brother) to see a fukking movie...

Add in the fukking price of consessions....the fruit snacks that cost $3.50 I can get across the street from a WAWA for $1.20.....Dollar General for cheaper.

Real talk I only goto the movies to see with special effects....

Comedy and Drama movies? :rudy:

I'm done with the movies until a DC or Marvel movie come out....

Or Hunger Games if i'm with a chick..:ehh:

There was a lot more variety when we were kids. Nowadays every damn Summer movie is about someone/something trying to blow up the world and someone having the save it. I'm tired of citywide destruction. There's no more mystery, intrigue.. where are the crime dramas or the period pieces? Where are the edge of your seat thrillers? They exist but you have to go searching for them. They're no longer marketed to the mainstream public.

I couldn't fukk with Transformers, Ninja Turtles, Sin City, Expendables, etc.. They all seemed generic :manny:

Hollywood being homogenized to the point where no one can tell the difference anymore. We need more films that go to the way of "The Purge" type shyt or more R-rated movies that gives no fukks with gore.

not just the box office, its the entire economy that is slowing....been seeing articles in the weakness of the once mighty housing market and casinos around the country in financial distress. folks are watching their disposable income if they in fact have income.

A double dip recession? :ohhh:

But seriously, Hollywood is long overdue for a transformation and letting low budget films with an original plot or independent films take over.

I expected another "new Hollywood" era like what happened in the late 1960s. It's going be an exciting time for young and upcoming filmmakers soon enough.

Its about time, too. Can't have 45-70 year old lead actors in films anymore. We need more 20-somethings breaking ground and making lasting noise in the scene.

Oh believe me, Hollywood is going to kiss a lot of independent filmmakers asses real soon. Creativity, originality, and innovation are needed for any industry to survive tough times.

yea they got those "luxury theaters" out here. but they have the balls to charge even more in order to not put up with the garbage ass experience regular movie theaters are these days. beers at the luxury theaters here are baseball stadium prices. id rather get a sixer of good brew for the price of one beer at the theater, and watch a flick at home

The Summer lacked a true event film :yeshrug:only event films cross the $300M mark. There was no "you have/need to see it" movie to the casual viewer. Godzilla was the only one that sort of felt like one and it could have been, but they decided to give the main attraction a cameo role :snoop: and cut-away from the monster on monster action. Most stuff didn't look that appealing and too many films came out in succession of each other. Godzilla, X-Men, Maleficent, Edge of Tomorrow and Jump Street came out in a 5 week window:snoop: space the damn shyt out. Wouldn't have seen 3/4 of the movies I saw if I didn't have the money and know price work-arounds. There was hype/interest in the summer movies last year.

Next year looks far more appealing, in terms of the movies that are coming out.

LOL @ you guys thinking people won't pay 25-40 bucks for PPV new releases but you think they want to pay these marked up 3D and concession prices at the theater? LOL. It would be cheaper to see a New release on PPV at home where the whole family can watch. And Food won't be as much as you will already be home (Home popcorn and candy and drinks are cheaper) instead of going to theater where you will pay more from Gas to get there and concessions.

Let's not talk about if you have kids as someone mentioned a family of 5 going to see Turtles was basically over a Benji. Plus again you could have a "New Release" party and all friends can chip in for the PPV price. So if 4 people go in that's about 5 or 6 bucks a piece. Trust me, I see this coming. Matter of fact. It's already here. Every heard of "Prima Cinema"? Exactly cause only rich people have it but they stream new releases for Big money already:

(WATCH NEW RELEASES AT HOME WITH 40,000 THEATER SYSTEM)

Want to watch Jason Bateman’s new film “Bad Words,” in theaters now, from the comfort of your own home? Now you can do that legally—you just have to pay thousands of dollars for it.

A new system called Prima Cinema, which costs $35,000 plus a $500 per movie viewing fee, allows the elite movie enthusiast to watch first-run theatrical releases from his or her home theater. The device, which is rising in popularity among Hollywood’s top stars and pro athletes, requires you to have a “state of the art” home theater, which includes a screen that measures more than 100 inches diagonally.

The device won’t include all new releases just yet. As of now, Prima is only publicly stating that they’ve inked deals with Paramount and Universal, but CEO and founder Jason Pang told FOX411 those willing to pay for the pricey system have plenty of movies to choose from.

“We have about half of the box office output right now,” he said. "We have agreements already in place [with some other studios], it’s just a matter of timing and getting the word out.”

He said the system has featured films like “Jack Ryan” and the Oscar-winning “Dallas Buyers Club.” Pang said the Matthew McConaughey-starring flick was a particularly good get for Prima because it initially hit theaters as a limited release.

So how is the quality of the at-home viewings? Prima Cinema promises its users their viewing will be “better than Blu-Ray.”

“The quality is something that we get direct feedback from our clients [about]. They say this is the best video and audio quality they’ve ever seen,” Pang said.

The studios and directors gave input when the device was being crafted, and that’s where the 100 inch screen requirement came from.

“One of the reasons why we have that requirement is that working with the studios and directors, we received their feedback and they want to maintain the cinematic experience,” Pang said.

Prima Cinema also includes a “biometric fingerprint ID for movie purchasing,”ensuring you won’t end up paying for any movies you didn’t buy. And that fingerprint feature may come in handy, as each viewing of a movie—even if it’s the same movie you’ve already watched—costs $500.

In order to get the new releases, the Prima users have to agree the device’s membership guidelines, which instructs that they cannot show the films for commercial use, they cannot engage in any type of piracy and they cannot show the film in a home theater with more than 25 seats.

Still, for those who can afford it, Prima offers a huge convenience, Pang insisted. The company would not divulge how many clients have purchased the system, but Page said their biggest markets are in the California area, New York tri-state area and Florida. He said Prima is also catching on in Texas and Colorado.

“It’s a select number of very high -profile affluent people. Oscar award winning actresses, pro-athletes… wealthy business executives,” he said. “Our clientele has complete control over the evening. A lot of these people have incredible busy schedules… They start the movie exactly when they want to start it so it really gives them control.”

Now this is the "RICH PEOPLE" Version of it. They haven't made the Consumer version yet.

"Transformers 4" was the Event film of the Summer by Default and even though it's the only Summer movie to do 1 Billion Worldwide. It completely under performed Domestically. It had a hot start and fell off a cliff. But your right. There was no real film that everyone was like "YES WE HAVE TO SEE THIS NOW". All the fanboys think everyone loves "comic Book" movies but when you look at the numbers they are selling average tickets too. What happens is the Fanboys rush out opening weekend and Comic Book movies end up not having much staying power after that. "Guardians" ended up succeeding cause it's "New" and "Different" even though the budget was 170 million and it had the built in Marvel/Disney marketing machine.
