Her story isn't that she woke up in the hall. It's that she lost time....the next thing she remembers is being in a hallway the next day and seeing him. She legit coulda drank that water they talked for a few minutes, then she left and met up with another friend after leaving and did some drugs that caused her to lose time. Why would Neil remember what happened on that random day decades later if, from his perspective, it went just like all the other interactions he had with her?
