The majority of that list though is throwaway/forgettable shyt.

I brought up Ape Escape and Spyro because they were platformers in the vein of Banzoo-Koozie. My point is the PS1 might've had dozens and dozens of playable platformers, but not one of them struck a chord like Banzoo-Koozie.

The same with it's shooters. But not one of them was fukking with Goldeneye or Perfect Dark on any level.

And to be honest a very small majority of those games could be called classic/timeless. Most of them are solid 7 or 8/10 joints but who remembers those type of games.

I can get about a week or two of enjoyment from a 7/10 game. But shyt like Zelda, Mario, Goldeneye, the Wrestling joints I can play forever. That's why N64 was more memorable.

But I know ya'll go hard with this console rivarly shyt. I personally could give a fukk about repping a hardware company. All I'm saying is I liked the N64 better. I ain't into stan wars.

there is no console rivaly, i give the 64 its due, i was with nintendo back then, not psx, even tho i had both, but now as an adult i can see that the psx was the better system to have, yall keep acting like i said the entire list was timeless, not true,
it was to show the difference between the amount of good games on psx compared to 64, n no way did i put spyro above mario and zelda and goldeneye, but you guys bring up the best that nintendo had like sony didnt have ff7 or metal gear, i can play metal gear forever breh and you keep saying 7/10 games like thats all there was

in reality the n64 was the fall of nintendo, for everything they did right on that system, there was twice as much shyt that they got wrong

atleast 30 games on that list were classic, i dont think the 64 even had 30 decent games
now name 100 n64 games that were good

this aint my list but seriously son, you going overboard with it. and yeah this list has some titles that aint so great but so did that psx list, there are still alot of really dope games on this list. the point is, both n64 and psx had some truely great games and some not so great games. i personally had both systems so i was able to enjoy the best of both worlds, and if someone only had one they would have missed out on some true classics on either system, but honestly there was enough dope shyt on both systems for people to rock with.

as i said, i prefer the psx because it maximized its ability more than the n64 did, and made some classics that still stand up. but the n64 had alot of classics aswell. both systems were game changers in their own right and neither one was a bad system. i honestly didn't think this thread was about psx vs n64, i thought it was about the way that n64 stepped outside the box to revolutionize gaming, which it did, even if it didn't truly live up to its own ability in the long run. but it should be obvious to any gamer that the next gen systems all built upon what the n64 introduced.

85% of that list was trash, but fukk the list for a minute

how can you say the n64 revolutionized all gens to follow if it went against the playstation?

game of TODAY are more like PSX games then they are n64 games so other than the stick (which someone would have did it anyway had nintendo not done it) where are the influences? the gamecube is the only system since that took after the n64, couple classics but ass in terms of total game library
it

stepped out the box how? cause the graphic were better? ps2 and xbox 360 show is not always agout the graphics

mario 64 crushed buildings but platformers are all but dead
zelda is my second favorite game of all time after super metriod but adventure games are few and far between.

be real, the n64 is most know for zelda oot, mario 64, goldeneye, maybe sarfox 64, and a couple others.

name the systems that got their influence from the 64

xbox got its swag from dreamcast, which has more psx influence than 64 by far

the ps2 and 3 has psx influence obviously

the psx competed with the 64 and was released first so obviously theres no influence there other than sticks on the dualshock( which again, someone woulda came up with eventually)

this thread is isnt about n64 vs psx its about n64 being the father of the current gen systems, and its not. its the father of the couple classics it released and no more. psx deserves the most credit for all systems to follow

not a gamer at all and i've only ever owned NES and N64. STILL play goldeneye and revenge to this day, and that's after bringing it with me to college and playing it regularly for 3 years. I would still get down on mario kart but my bird ass ex gf from college stole it, or took it back, or whatever.

anyway i think this speaks volumes as to n64's niche in video game annals

Zelda, star fox, Mario, golden eye, smash bros, jet force gemni, and snowboard kids was my 8th and 9th grade. I don't even remember what else happened those years, but me and my band of nerds spent all afternoon after school playing those games. And wcw nitro. Jesus Christ the memories. God I love smash bros and snowboard kids.

*cops n64*
*doesn't get game for atleast a year*
*turns on system to stare at red light*
*brings controller to school to prove to friends
-that you copped the system*
*finally gets mario 64 :gladbron:*

let us salute one of the goat systems :violent:

I remember trying to explain to my mother that Playstation didn't come with a game and that I couldn't play it unless she bought a game with the system. The entire time she's looking at me like :what:

aside from really bringing fps to consoles, n64 revolutionized 3D gaming and introduced free cameras which are present in games of every genre on ever system since. it opened up the posibility of 360 degree gaming that is present today. and yes playstation had 3D games, but without free camera those games were very limited. that was the difference. n64 was such a huge leap in technology and gaming advancement that game designers didn't even know how to utilize it until later systems.

and you keep saying the anologue stick and rumble pack were bound to happen eventually, but thats a weak arguement to avoid giving n64 their due props since they actually did introduce it. not only that but the psx control was actually a step in the opposite direction, they didnt even have a d-pad, they had separate buttons for up, down, left and right. the anolouge stick was actually laughed at until people used it because it was considered an old school gimick (little did we know that it would be the perfect addition for the future of 3D gaming). and thats not even to say that the n64 analouge stick was perfect, but the concept behind it was.

psx influenced gaming in moving away from adventure/platformer games, n64 influenced gaming in opening up 360 degree 3D worlds and introduced a control scheme to lead the way.
