at some point their numbers guys will convince the execs, its not worth it. like half your roster of rappers will die before they hit 35 and they may not even have a solid catalogue until they're 30. you put money behind marketing albums, touring, and other expenses. the returns have to be worth it over time

in the 90s there were a total of 10 murders of rappers for the entire decade

between just 2020 and 2022, there have been 15 murders ....in just 2 years.

at this rate, a total of 60 rappers will be dead by 2030.

from the article:
Two studies in the mid-2010s concluded that murder was the cause of 51.5% of hip hop musician deaths. The average age of death is between 25–30 years of age. Hip hop has a higher rate of homicide than any other genre of music, ranging from five to 32 times higher.
Look at the streaming numbers. Juice World, Pop Smoke and XXX are amongst the highest streamed artists in the world. Who's getting the biggest cut out of that?

I honestly think that the "rapper death" resiliency component has been factored into major label business models. They promote and encourage the content with impunity. They're not going to stop combing the streets for the next guy, and they're definitely not going to empower that talent to evolve their lifestyle and undermine their credibility

It's scary shyt

So its okay to question black mens emotional intelligence now:francis:?

So your solution is to either stay in the community and possibly get killed trying to fix it. Or to leave and join another community:mjpls:?
Whether its black people killing and stealing from each other, black people toiling their lives away for white supremacy. Or the educated negroes, who move out the hood. Own their own business,or work in corporate America. Its two sides of the assimilation coin Im not interested in. One day yall are going to realize the zoo is still the zoo. You might live in the nicer part of the zoo,but it still smells like shyt:respect:. White supremacy is whats causing all this.

You ain't moving nowhere and you part of the problem

Damn RIP. He was the best one in the group imo. Hope this gives Quavo and Offset the incentive to patch things up. Say what you want about Migos but I always thought it was dope they had their own style and sound and mad artists bit their style across multiple genres. I just recently saw the Drink Champs episode and he was talking about getting his flowers while he was alive. Ironic as shyt. And they shoulda been got them based on their influence in the industry

And fukk craps and ceelo btw. I used to play that when I was young with weed money and arguments and fights took place. The tension gonna especially get high with real ballers involved. And you not really safe in the casino becuz wolves be lurking. These days I stick to Draft Kings

I feel ppl were connected to Takeoff in a different way. We saw him play the background for so long then he finally got some real shine. He was the underdog we all rooted for.
Rip to the fella

It blows my mind how poor conflict-resolution is amongst grown men. For once, take a step back and think through the implications of your actions.
Here's the thing about it too, when you're in bad shape/unhealthy you're very irrational.

Now you think of how sleep deprived people are at all the events like this:
3AM, weed/alcohol in their system, loud as noise everywhere, probably numerous flights, etc. and you can get an idea of how irrational as fukk everyone's brains are.

shyt is a bad bad mix. shyt is such an unhealthy lifestyle it and it promotes carrying guns irresponsibly on top of it smh.

These artists come from countries filled with violence. Stop blaming rap and black Americans :mjpls:
Bro I'll never understand how this shyt is global.

Toronto seems to be snapping a lot lately, the west Indian/Somalis community been fukking up.

Trinidad just had a big boom in the dancehall world and alot of their popular artists got murdered. Jamaica's biggest artist is in jail for ordering a murder, i heard they tried to dispose the body in acid or something, and a next one was just shot.

In England we already know what type of time their on.

Brazil, my coworker told me that baila funk's the same thing.

I honestly think it's the environment, it's the common factor. The music is just the reaction, and their biggest output.
