Nadella on Gaming:

- Delighted to close the acquistion of ABK. Will advance their goal of bringing games to everyone on any endpoint.
- Set record of Game Pass hours played this quarter.
- More than 11M players of Starfield. Half of hours were on PC. Most subscribers added to Game Pass in a single day, ever.
- 13 $1B+ franchises now with Candy Crush, Elder Scrolls, etc.
- Strongest holiday quarter ever incoming with MW3, Forza Motorsport, etc.

Amy Hood:
- Revenue up ahead of expectations due to stronger than expected growth in Game Pass subscriptions and first-party content primarily from the Starfield launch.

Relax with the doom and gloom:hhh:
As usual reality is very different without the sony stan stank on it :ehh:

Time to admit i was right, titties.

No one ran out and bought an xbox (but me) for starfield :yeshrug:
Except that isn't true, and you're wrong. Phil told you months ago they lost the most important generation to lose console wise and that not one or two nor three great games will change that.

But hardware definitely moved strictly because of starfield, you are a prime example of such, but did you expect hardware sales to be up just because of starfield? I didn't.

Them moving hardware is a means to a end. It's hard for Sony stans to accept that not selling the most consoles doesn't mean you aren't "winning"

This isn’t a year turnaround. It will take the better part of half a decade with the timetable AAA games take to get made.

I get that you want them out of the console space. That’s not what they need to do. They have proven in the past that they can put out successful hardware. They’re investing in the business and haven’t reached a timetable to where that investment is guaranteed to not pay off.

Yeah, I'm not sure what he's expecting. Even in the most notable example of salvaging a generation of hardware, the PS3, it came after several years of solid releases. The people who felt no need to engage with XBox consoles thus far aren't going to go out and get one just because of one year's lineup.

While not all of the games may have been as good as hoped, what matters is that they got the games out, and built momentum. Now they just need to keep a consistent cycle of releases to capitalize on what's been happening.

You literally in here arguing with yourself
No you are simply looking at it like your still in debt so the increase of income you got from your side gig isn't really an increase of income because you are still in debt.

Which is false, starfield help with hardware sales even if it didn't save it from being down completely.

It's really that simple :yeshrug:

How could starfield have helped with console sales if they are down from last year when they didn’t have any major releases in this quarter? :dahell:

The op is clearly stating that starfield wasn’t able to help stop the bleeding of falling hardware sales yoy

Simple question, do you think starfield moved any extra xbox hardware that otherwise wouldn't have moved if starfield would have released on PlayStation?

(Regardless of the time frame)

Because it is, however they positioning themselves so they don't have to have to be # 1 or 2 in console sales to be healthy and profitable.
There is a reason why Phil went to meet with King first after the acquisition of ABK. They are moving to make Xbox ubiquitous with gaming. Like how kool-aid is synonymous with flavored drinks even though Wylers have been making the same time of packets for decades too. That takes time but that is their goal. Kids touch their parents phones before they do consoles and if they see Xbox from like the age of two, it resonates as they get older.

Phil spencer “Starfiled ain’t gon make us sell more consoles than playstation so we have decided to concentrate on increasing our revenue elsewhere”

Xbox revenue continues to rise despite not selling more consoles than playstation.

Sony stan’s “OMG starfield didn’t make xbox sell more consoles than playstation”

The only somewhat positive spin that you dream up in this scenario is that if it wasn’t for starfield hardware sales would be even lower (-12% or more??) but again, the fact that its still significantly down from last year isn’t good when they just released their biggest console exclusive of the generation.

Microsoft can prosper as a game software company, but i don’t see them being successful in hardware. They have too much of an un-cool image
