No. That’s you.

Will post a random twitter cacs opinion in a heartbeat,

But a guy people pay literally millions of dollars for his opinion. A guy with access to data none of has access to. A guy who has sat in courtrooms through these types of proceedings before is the non-credible one.

This is the guy that gets attacked with heavy (misguided) scrutiny.

Like i said his opinion ain’t even new or unique. You just wanted to attack him cause he ain’t say what you wanted to hear about the merger.

Michael Pachter has been a joke for years, it didn’t start with this video :mjlol:

Move past the headlines. We all know gaming “journalism” is trash.

Look at his actual quotes

Console software is gonna move off consoles...in the next 2 to 3 years, you're gonna have the opportunity to download to your PC and play on your T.V...in the next 10 years you're gonna download to your phone and play on your T.V."

Seems pretty fukkin accurate :ehh:

He’s been saying that console are dying, he even said last gen that this gen would sell significantly less consoles than the generation before, yet nintendo just sold over 120 million Nintendos, and i would be shocked if the PS5 doesn’t sell just as well if not more than the PS4.

This is the last real console cycle," said Pachter. "I don't mean that Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will go bankrupt and shut down – they will not. Each of them will make another console, some people will buy them, and the next console cycle will be to this console cycle what the 3DS is to the DS. The 3DS is selling about 15 million units a year, the DS had five consecutive years where it sold more than 26 million. So about half as big.

For him to be right means nintendo switch sells about 7 million units and PS5 only sells 60 million

Last gen WAS smaller than the gen before, and this gen is trending the same way.

You only have a console warriors perspective so you see headlines that say “PS5 breaking sales records” and it messes up your perspective on what’s actually happening in the industry.

You are an industry/financial analyst. You see one sector of the industry slowly declining, while other sectors explode in growth.

The only reasonable conclusion is that the declining sector needs to find a way to hitch a ride with the growing sectors or it will get left behind.

Where he miscalculated, and he was honest about this in the video, was he didn’t anticipate GAAS model blowing up the way it did with COD, Fortnight, Etc. So that has given the console space a “second wind”, but the trend is still trending where it’s trending to.

It’s right on the chart above :dahell:

Charts on google = word of god

This is trump tier arguments. Gaming is bigger than its ever been, especially console gaming, you dont need a chart to see whats clear as day. Sony and Nintendo are cleaning up.

Microsoft on the other hand are doing a hard pivot an thats where you knowledge base lies.

Microsoft is not pivoting to anything they are sticking to their overall goal of trying to being the center of media entertainment and cloud base devices in the home. The only difference is that it has expanded to outside the home as well now.

This is from 2013 and they had been saying similar things since the 360 dropped.

Q: Does Xbox One require an “always on” Internet connection?

A: No, it does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet. We’re designing Xbox One to be your all-in-one entertainment system that is connected to the cloud and always ready. We are also designing it so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your connection.

Not that it would matter if they were, what are they suppose to do keep letting Sony lock out games for a year to infinity and hope they win over people strictly with their 1st party games :mjlol:

This isn’t necessarily true. It’s hard to get exact data but through most years it seems Sony is making more profit.

Also, these comparisons are kinda unfair because ALL of nintendos business is included. Movies, TV, Amusemnt parks, mobil, etc. Whereas all of that stuff is not included even the stuff that comes directly from their games side of things like the TLOU2 tv show wouldn’t be included in sonys numbers.
Breh, noooooo.

That's operating income, ie revenue.

Profit is what you get after all the bills are paid and what's left over.

Sony has traditionally lagged behind Nintendo in profits breh.

The info I posted in one of the posts above comes from financial analyst who iirc work for Wedbush.

Nintendo dwarfs them in software sales and makes them for pennies whereas Sony is spending dollars in comparison.

I don't understand why you're so staunchly against this accepted industry truth tbh?

Consoles are in decline

Nintendo record revenues
Sony record revenues

Switch on pace to be the highest selling nintendo hardware of all time
Ps5 on pace to do another 120m+

It’s like one company is letting down the industry or something

It’s like one company is letting down the industry or something
Xbox making “record revenues” too.

Those are the headlines.

The actual numbers say the console industry is in decline and has been for years.

What’s been happening is consolidation of the market to a few top earners. For every record sony breaks, another company goes under.

Yes Playstation is making record revenue, but it’s costing them more and more money each year to make that revenue and more and more companies are dropping out every year.

So sony can say “we had a great year” but that’s doesn’t mean the industry itself isn’t in decline.
