There you have it, straight from the devs(horses) mouth.

Sony’s business is concentrated and reliant on the top few games at the detriment to customers and developers alike.

Things like gamepass and the cloud, and microsoft having access to a steady library of games to promote those services only serves to lesson the nasty consolidation the industry has been suffering under the hands of sony.

Good guy Microsoft coming to save the industry :blessed:
How has Sony consolidated the industry? These developers/studios have a choice unlike those who are outright purchased

He just explained it to you from a developers standpoint.

Only the big games that have the budget to pay sony for advertisement or special placement in the store have success in being discovered on the platform.

There is no “choice” you either pay sony, let them make your game exclusive or your game is at a huge disadvantage.

I think you need to step back and really think about what “consolidation” means instead of just throwing it out as a dirty word.

For decades lots of games companies have been dying while Sony increases their market share, power, and influence. That’s literally consolidation. It’s created less choice, less rights and benefits for consumers, less opportunities for developers, higher prices, all to the benefit of the market leader who is now fighting tooth and nail to keep that status quo.

You have watched “consolidation” make sony the powerhouse that they are.

The entire industry sees this which is why literally no one within the industry sees the deal or microsoft’s overarching plans as a “bad” thing. They are offering so many benefits to devs and consumers it’s crazy some of you are still fighting against this for the sake of the “industry” that collectively wants the deal to go through :smh:

Everything I read was hoe babble. So Sony needs the competition to step up it's game? They've been stepping up their game. The coemption chose not to compete and now wants to cry about it.

You know what I meant though.
Nope, what you are saying doesn’t make sense.

It’s capitalism. You gotta spend money to make money.

You guys are reacting to this like microsoft is trying to buy sony, which would fit your analogy and would be “monopolistic” but that ain’t what’s happening.

They are securing content for their platform. no different than what anyone else in the industry has done

Because they were incapable of doing it on their own.

Microsoft stans never talk about the games Microsoft actually drop, just a bunch of "Microsoft just bought this studio, and that studio" these muthafukkas been buying studios for years and yet have nothing play on them machines y'all buy. Bout time they actually drop something noteworthy, we'll be dead :mjlol:

“do it on their own” is a misnomer. You need people to make games.

You think microsoft should be running a game developer clone factory or something?? :mjlol:

Dude, you can spin this however you want:russ:. It doesn't change that Microsoft is a $2 trillion company. They had nothing but space and opportunity to do the exact same thing Sony did, and put out games that defined the Xbox as a console and an experience in general. They couldn't do it. So they're going to take properties off the shelf and make Sony fund their direct competitor with derivative yearly release CoD sales . And Sony isn't supposed to feel some type of way. But I'm patient. We'll see how this all plays out after it goes through.
