I might be mistaken on WiiU years but even during the Gamecube years Nintendo was bringing it in with Gameboy Advance.So in the years of Gamecube and WiiU, where Playstation as a whole outsold those respective consoles 2-4xs over, whilst Nintendo had bare minimum 3rd party support during those eras as well, you're stating that Playstation never earned more profit than Nintendo not even one those years? That don't add up, chief. You got something to support that?
Like, the thing is Playstation 1+2 were very much based on the razor/blade model, where they sell the razor at a loss but make it back on the blades.
It's a loss leading strategy where the software is the money maker.
Sony has since worked to shift this, to now if not being in profit at least trying to break even on hardware sold.
Nintendo always tries to sell hardware at a profit from day one, so they make it selling both hardware and software.
Like, it's not a hidden truth that Nintendo is the most prolific console publisher in the industry.
Sales-age Remnants: Does anyone have that chart comparing the profits between Sony/Nintendo in the different eras?
I've been looking but I'm Mr.Magoo status out here flailing in the information highway. Or am I misremembering something that never existed?
