Understand what he said perfectly

Too bad those with low comprehensive skills/people who don't realise Billboard take things out of context are going to have a field day with Meek
We understand. It is just stupid! He going left on Drake but him under a microscope.

Your logic, Muhammad Ali should never say a word about the War on Vietnam or black pride. :stopitslime:

Or Chuck D should never say a word about white supremacy. :pacspit:

I bet you if it was benefitting gays, you would listen. :sas2:
Sounds like the same cac who tried to check Cardale Jones.

Meek is what happens when dudes have no interest in their history or future. It's all about the present, and attaining money. No time for self improvement. No time for reading. My cousin is like that smh. Always trying to find a come up the easy way, talking about how he gonna be stacking paper soon instead of just going to school or getting a good job.

Last week I was reading a James Baldwin book and this nikka came up on me and was like what you doing. I told him and he googled Baldwin and said "why you reading a book written by a gay nikka?!?!" :what::what::what:
I'm all for enlightenment but I'm not reading nothing by a gay nikka. Cuz got you on that one

I know what he meant I read the article. My point is WTF is he talking about. Ain't nobody killing no fukking Meek lmao

ofcourse not

but Meek Mill making a statement like that is actually a testament to the fear that White Supremacy has instilled in Black people

here you have a non-significant rapper when it comes to politics and even he is scared to speak out

Its actually a pretty sad statement

I mean look at it from his perspective, he's a famous well known person

Millions of eyeballs are on him, and we all know that there's such a thing as the Hip Hop Police

It can be pretty intimidating to speak out

Trust me, Meek Mill aint the only famous Black person that is scared to make political statements

Allot of brothers and sisters in the spotlight know the deal, but they are scared of speaking out

plus you also gotta factor in that on a subconscious (and maybe even conscious) level

Black folks know that being rich and black in America is a privilege that can be taken from you at any moment

"if you get out of line"

This is why Oprah had to go all the way to Africa to build a school for Black people

because if she would've done something majorly significant like that here in the U.S

she would've appeared to "radical".....doing it in Africa is ok because Africa is looked at as a basketcase so everybody helps out Africa

even Jay-Z when he did that water project in Africa.....you dont see him doing something majorly significant for Black people here in the U.S?

Anyways, I went on a little rant, but I feel Meek Mill

Not really defending Meek, but it's an interesting thought.

How many black folks working a decent job are going into work and using their "platform" to discuss political issues?

I think what he said is lame, but dude is an entertainer. No one should be looking to him for political commentary in the first place.

This speaks to a larger issue in popular culture and discourse in America though,
Truth of the matter a lot of stuff simply come down to hating under the guise if something else. As soon as you get money you supposed to do all these things a lot of these same people complaining never do. If its not them its the keyboard revolutionaries like ole girl who I wouldn't surprised if she was a black feminist who I rarely see say jack about females not doing anything but if its a male esp black got all the words in the world. That's why I don't pay much attention to all these cats. Don't understand how hard it is to do you and if you don't like what somebody doing fukk it get to their level and get your own platform instead of asking them to do your wishes. Lazy ass hating suckers nowadays

I gotta agree, its not like Meek is profiting from political raps or talking about revolutions and uplifting the community, but then not doing anything off record....Its still weird to me gangsta rappers get held to a higher standard in this regard then conscience rappers.....For conscience rappers its okay to just be a rapper, gangsta rappers are expected to uplift the community and be activist with they rhymes:patrice:

Why the double standard?Just because you believe they have some sort of power over the hood:mjlol:? These people you claim they have power over are your literal brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, sons, daughters, coworkers etc....Question is why don't you have power over any of these people:scust:

Im not asking anybody to become activist, but if all the people who complained about hiphops negativity took at least a ACTIVE role in they OWN familys lives shyt would be better, and actually EFFECTIVE,something positive hiphop has not shown itself to really be imo....I don't wait on Meek Mill,Kendrick,Drake to give my nices and nephews, cousins the game or help them if one of they parents refuses to make sure they know how to read, help them get a job or get to work so they stay outta trouble, check up on em and give them advice...I don't understand why rappers wouldn't want to use they platform to do or say more, but that's just disappointing.

But calling it Meeks duty as a trap rapper?Jays duty as a former drug dealer to save the community:comeon:.

MANY black folks, actually people in general including many of the people in this thread are scared to hold the people in they lives accountable for shyt though, scared to come as preachy or judgemental....But they not scared when it comes to tryna hold rappers accountable:heh:..Go talk this shyt to ya family memebers,go talk that shyt to ya homeboys and facebook friends...But nah you probably just sit there with the :francis: when they on bullshyt.
Alot of cats know they can't kick that shyt IRL because people going to be like that sounds good but fukk you doing since you not listening and you nowhere further than me. That's the case most times and dudes know it so they know not to bring that bullshyt up that's why a lot of cats be on some wait till I get so e bread type flow cause they know currently their words don't have no real weight at least from a results standpoint

Is anyone surprised? That's why so much of the music we love is poison for the ears of the easily impressionable and stupid.

We treat talking about killing other black men as 'entertainment' speaking on the real world around us and the systems is 'political' Meek isn't the only rapper doing this but all eyes are on him this week and this is pretty damm sad.

What I find interesting is you can tell even people like Kendrick are kinda shook about putting their heads too far above the parapet, it's been interesting watching him slowly appreciate that people of colour are taking in what he was trying to do on his last album. And liking it.
