ya know...I get what they were trying to do with venom, and I actually LIKED the casting. They wanted eddy brock to be like an opposite and equal of spiderman. Grace was a great casting for that. The problem is...when he became venom he looked REALLY stupid, and it took to the last act for him to even be venom, and he was defeated quickly as they distracted us with the sandman story.
I wish I could do a directors cut of spiderman 3 where they completely remove the sandman story arc, and have more venom. Even then I could get past the bad-cgi venom suit
I think the directors cut of spider man 3 would've been harry and sandman and no venom but I feel you breh. The idea is a good idea: antithesis of Peter Parker but the random team up hurt it. And they didn't make Venom angry enough and vicious enough. Had potential though

Breh no person with his salt will on purpose tank a movie of a character they love. I always contend that everyone is to blame on that one..the suits, the directors, the writers (the director and his brother) the actors for their blah performances, minus Church who's trying to do something and even Franco who isn't trying to sleepwalk through it. Everyone is at fault. I'll blame them for forcing a character on him that he didn't like and couldn't get with but they're not the first studio to force something on a director, it's your job as the writer and director to make something good out of it.
The studio isn't at fault for Tobey strutting up and down Central Park west looking like an idiot. Matter of fact, that scene may be the most purely Sam Raimi scene in the whole trilogy, or at least second after the Doc Ock hospital scene.

So why is it well received here then, outside of a handful of people? It seems to me if this is such a blatant, glaringly obvious flaw more people would be on board with that particular criticism. The whole board is Marvel stans?
I don't understand why it's so hard for you cats to accept you have a minority opinion. It's not as if any of us are quoting you talking about "fukk that, let me explain why Marvel villains are awesome!". And why is it so hard for you to accept that an aspect of the MCU is weak? Nobody is in here saying the movies are shyt, we all love the majority of these movies. It's just that the villains are weak.
And you get called a Stan because you are one as evidenced by how you can't accept that people are critical of one aspect of the Marvel movie juggernaut but still are fans of the movies themselves.

Truest shyt said in the film room in a while. I love the Marvel movies, but they are obviously afraid to push the envelope with a dangerous or even a possibly victorious villain..if Marvel made a movie where a great villain won at the end,

I'm on record outright calling "Ironman 3" trash. I called "Captain America: The First Avenger" ass just last week. Called "Thor" garbage too. The only 3 Marvel movies I've praised is "The Avengers", "The Winter Soldier" and "GoTG". I've also said "The Dark Knight" is better than any MCU movie. Any of this is easily found with the Search function.
But I'm an MCU stan though.

True indeed, I wasnt into the Xmen movies until First class....Fassbender Magneto is on some other shyt as a villian ( I find myself rooting for him)
I dug the Winter Soldier , but I dont know if I really see him as a Villian in the same light
