How was The Winter Soldier not formidable? He gave every main character that work(critically wounded 3) over the course of the film and was imposing throughout. He even outshined Captain America, who looked 10x better than how he was done in the first film and The Avengers.

Winning what? If you are talking about Marvel vs. DC.. Marvel started the MCU YEARS ago.. All DC has done so far is Man of Steel and that made around $700M worldwide which is perfectly fine for Superman's first motion picture since Superman Returns which was just an extension of the Donner era.

Before that they did the Nolan trilogy Batman films and the last two both did over a billion worldwide.

Their only failure was Green Lantern and they are sweeping that under the rug
