Every leader/person is full of contradictions, most of what your posting isn’t even directly from Garvey mouth.

And he isn’t the only famous black leader to have or try create dialogue with the KKK

The Marcus Garvey and Universal Negro Improvement Association Papers: The Caribbean diaspora, 1920-1921

Thanks! Any books that cover if he ever spent long periods of time in the South. Like Deep South - where most Black (American) folks was at?

I don't think I have ever read anything about that in the books I have read about him.

It wasn't just that he had dialogue with them; he basically agreed with some of the more negative/outlandish sh1t they were saying about black people too:hhh:

Having a stranglehold on Africa isn’t a stupid concept, the only problem is it relies on continental Africans to pull their weight which many haven’t. I don’t think you can knock a man for trying to actually give back the Wealth of the richest continent in the world to its people, and how that could benefit people of that race worldwide.

Africa has been cut apart for hundreds of years, it has had involvement from everyone from the Roman Empire to the British Empire to the CIA and FBI for a reason, any time a prominent leader has arose I.e Patrice Lumamba, these leaders have been compromised using outside forces....

The question is why does the rest of the world have such inter3st in Africa, why do all these leaders dice up the continent and continually involve itself in its business if the continent not of any worth?

The whole reason we’re even able to talk on the internet today, is because of minerals found in Congo, the tech industry that includes conglomerates such as Apple is directly tied to this....

So in my eyes it makes sense for Black people to take extra concern and attention in that continent in an ideal world, nothing wrong with that at all, the Chinese do, the White Europeans and Americans do..... European and American prosperity is directly tied to the suffering and exploitation of that continent, this is complete facts.

There is no hold your own nuts in a global world which relies on Minerals from Africa and the Middle East to exist in its form today.

Sadly, he was moving really disrespectful and disconnected. I don't even think he saw it as that though.

I don't think if he stayed in the South --- and around people in the South - it would have gotten that far out the pocket.

Someone would have checked him and let him know he was out of pocket -- and shouldn't be trying to speak for or about them (Black Americans).

I've seen various mentions of it in

The World of Marcus Garvey
Race and Class in Modern Society

Better Day Coming
Blacks and Equality, 1890-2000

The Rise and Fall of the Garvey Movement in the Urban South, 1918-1942

New Negro Politics in the Jim Crow South

Where can I find: The Rise and Fall of the Garvey Movement in the Urban South, 1918-1942

Without buying it? It's not on Library Genesis.

It was his tactics/how he was moving that people didn't like; it was basically disrespect to Afram ideals/history

remember, Afram ideals and history is the reason they birthed a Frederick Douglass and Booker T Washington which Garvey admitted was the reason the West Indies never did even though they were emancipated from slavery before black people in the USA

I still can't believe Garvey praised him -- and his "personal" friend. I tried to read White America in undergrad and I just got pissed.
