Start reading this since the premise seemed fun. Honestly the early comedy is great and is even still solid within the 2nd volume. But the 2nd volumes starts the plot with the Fallen Angels. The idea of Sensei being the one to force them be back home by writing their story. Even the knowledge that his former lover cleary misses him is a nice wrinkle. Small touches on the writing is really good. An example when Suzuki goes back home and mentioning his story isn't over.

Volume ends where we find out that Tama, is actually a princess named Matilda. Well it looks like the fallen angels are making their way to Sensei. This should be fun.

Dandadan Chapter 160

Saint-Germain is springing into action. There are so many questions. Sounds like he helped Fairy Tale Card, but it might have been a meaningless aid to him.

This is about to get interesting.

Isekai Shikkaku Volume 3

Honestly this series gets more impressive in each volume. :ehh: Comedy is consistent, but it keeps you on your toes with how it deals with the plot of the story.

Tama's backstory was pretty said. The guild of having lost her mother and brother and feeling obligated to take her brother's place. The only issue I have with Sensei's skill is what does it do to those from this world? It more so seemed like it was a reminder of Tama of the path she wanted to take? The skill was more so a guide if anything else. So seems like it's only useful against offworlders, but this is a neat use. I like how it points out both Tama and her father were at fault.

We also get an appearance of the daughter of the dark lord. Unsure why she left suddenly? But Kaibara being killed like he did was a nice touch. He was a PoS in his old life and his new life. It felt right that his story ended here and wasn't sent back because he is such a scum. The next arc focuses on a village turning into a casino. :skip: The idea of offworlders polluting the town because of that could be interesting. An offworlder being helpful is unexpected. Though Sensei finds himself with some lovely company all of a sudden. :pachaha:

This shyt is fukking hilarious, up there with Prison School and 4-Cut Hero for manga that leaves me rolling.

Lloyd one of the best bag chasers/scammers/finessers I've seen in media who has absolutely zero shame, I'd put him up there next to Eddy :wow:

Javier is actually the perfect foil to him and bro is hilarious himself.

Shiori Experience would be a massive hit if they ever had clearance to adapt it....A battle shounen about bands whose members are possessed by legendary rock stars that died at 27 years old. Jimi Hendrix is the star. Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Brian Jones have all been introduced. They're all starting to cross paths. Absolute flames!

Isekai Shikkaku Volume 4

The casino arc was an interesting arc that truly shows the world is no longer black and white. The offworlder knight was the embodiment of justice. His sense of justice branded Esche despite never getting a sense of her character. Essentially he assumed that she was working for the offworlders since setting up an establishment near the casino. But in reality as Sensei saw, her efforts were the reason the villagers were saved. Sadly the villagers refused to believe her. The knight felt it is fair to give everyone a second chance, but his sole voice could not overcome the loud majority. To make matters worse, the villagers are setting up business with what the offworlders left. Esche being the sole good and the villagers are corrupt. You can't blame him, but it provides an interesting lesson that the world is neither black nor white because if it is, it would just depend on your POV. Esche being a goddess of the prophecy was not what I was expecting at all. But sensei won big. :skip:

We got some Nir focus, and apparently he left an orphanage so he could come back and be a hero. He meets up with an offworlder who has been secretly helping the orphanage. He and Nir have similar things to overcome. Both just felt scared to make a move when it is necessary. Sensei's words hold true. Someone being a coward shouldn't deter about the person's kindness. The offworlder helped the orphanage so much and Nir tried his best to save the old man before he became a monster. Nice conclusion for this arc as Nir takes his first step to becoming a hero.

To conclude this volume we see Ysha and Wolf fighting the fallen angels. Interesting enough we get to see Wolf's power. Interesting he holds more powerful than any of the fallen angels. It's interesting in his conversation with Sensei. Basically in theory his magic Sensei's skill isn't needed. But what if Wolf's magic turns out to be ineffective for whatever reason? Curious what Fallen Angel Green can do against Wolf.

Wild Strawberry Chapter 26

Really interesting chapter. This chapter did a great job at showcasing how fukked up consequences are for the Funeral Force using Jinka's power. Eventually using too much over some time will cause you to lose their humanity. It seems the point of the test is are you willing to kill your former colleagues who lost their humanity? The practicality of this part of the test seems more believable than part of of the test. It makes me wonder is tapping so much of the power really necessary?

Isekai Shikkaku Volume 5

Man everything hits well, and this series continues to impress :wow:

So we get introduced to Yuriko, the Fallen Angel of Greed. One very interesting detail is that she was Wolf's apprentice. But according to Ysha he has taken on any apprentices since then. Ultimately Yuriko really enjoyed her life here until Wolf shined himself towards another offworlder. Put it quite simple greed took over her. The most interesting aspect was that offworlder was Yuriko's younger sister. Having been the one in charge of taking care of her younger sister Hikari. You could imagine a life of taking her sickly sister and not having a moment of fun took its toll on her. Sensei statement of Yuriko's greed was well said. Compassionate and clumsy. Sure she made a mistake, but that doesn't make her greedy.

As Yuriko went into this world, while she did enjoy her new life, you could tell that once her sister arrived a spark arrived to her. Her sister was her world and that is what her new life missed. Unfortunately this is where Wolf's flaws start to become apparent. While he was a skilled master, he did not know how to balance and as both Hikari and him felt distant to Yuriko problems only happened. It's touching that Hikari followed Yuriko in this world, which symbolizes how these sisters belonged to be each other. Then getting sent back to their original world is the true source of happiness for these sisters. A great ending to this arc.

Of course with that wrapped up we get the Fallen Angel of Dejection coming on the attack. Funny enough it is not Wolf's day as magic is ineffective against him. It is rather Nir who stands in to protect Tama to save her. What is that sword, and who was Nir's father that he possessed such a strong sword? In the biggest reveal, Sensei meets up with Sacchan again. But she sees a light in his eyes that he didn't have before and rejects him. Although on the final page it's clear her feelings remain the same as before. But what is her goal? Does she plan to revert him back to the old Sensei that she used to know?

@Jmare007 @tripleaamin @twan83 got spoiled on a key moment in jobless so i caved and started reading

:wow: this is the greatest isekai of all time, it has everything you could ask for an expect, and still manages to hit you with multiple mind fukks

also confirmed my theory from the anime thread :unimpressed: i know how good writers handle timelines

i still stand on that ED arc being dragged a bit too far, but gahdamn, so many hype moments and bombs being dropped :damn: haven't been hyped off a fantasy story like this since Malazan

there's nothing that's gonna be able to keep up with this once the anime gets to the shyts

I knew you weren't going to be able to not read the next volumes :bryan:

Which one are you at right now?

And yes, the SOL arc of Rudy being at the Mage College was way too long in the anime. It's easily the series weakest arc and they didn't even do that good of a job adapting it even though they tried going 1 for 1 for most of it -too much actually, imo, the anime didn't need some of the stuff they showed-, but the good thing is that if Bind was that thorough with that arc, they are gonna give us so much piff in the next two seasons+ :lawd:

Yup, that run from Vol.12 to Vol.17 is fukking incredible.

I've been thinking about how they are gonna animate THAT fight since I read that volume 4 years ago, whole genre might never be the same :wow:

PS: Oldeus in Vol.14 :mjcry: my gawd :mjcry:

Oldeus was fukking powerful :wow: that whole conversation/situation was the wildest shyt in the series to me :to: that's the moment i knew the author transcended forreal and this story was something special, that was a movie in itself

then we got the scrap of legend :banderas: shibuya level antics, i had to get up and pace the room when all those pull ups occured, my homie thought kendrick dropped another drake diss cuz that how i reacted when Euphoria dropped :russ:

then we had a whole nother squabble entirely before that with the crazy sister and simp ass Moore :damn: whole lotta gang shyt

then my man Swaggy P came down from the the fukking rafters like prime Sting :gladbron:

"that peace treaty aint say shyt about me beatin yo ass real quick  some beef is everlasting" packed her and her team up real quick

this story is truly amazing and i completely understand why people call this the OG isekai :whew: absolutely nothing you can come up with that didn't take place in this shyt at the highest level when you least expected it

I had my issues with Rudy during S2 Pt 1 to drop it. I might just start at S2 Pt 2 after it gets a full adaptation.

Regardless, MT as a fantasy series deserves its acclaim. Now the isekai particular stuff. Rudy's personality and what where it gets decisive.

I wished we see more series be influenced by the good aspects of MT. But that requires good writing and storytelling instead.

Honestly that stuff becomes super small potatoes since he has wives now :manny: his personality is his personality but it really only appears when nothing else is going on

Mission: Yozakura Family Chapter 234

Great chapter :mjcry:

Man Hulang had her happiness all along. She wondered what if she could have had that happiness with her son back then. But Kengo was that son, and unfortunately, it took to working with Asa to find that. She handled it the best way she could. The tricky part was not to let Asa be suspicious. Fantastic chapter and sad to see Hulang go. But she went out with happiness.

The key is those new children of his. Shinzo is up next it looks like.

The Elusive Samurai Chapter 164

Kind of expected more than a few pages with the flashback. Perhaps this is critical information that needs to be saved later? Still seeing the connection that Takauji was similar to Tokiyuki is interesting. Takauji being the one that always found Tokiyuki was also because he was similar to him when he was younger.

I really do like Akiie's line of rather leading beasts then blind sheep. You must serve who I consider to be God, talking about how Moronao views Takauji. The beasts Akiie talks about include Tokiyuki. Tokiyuki doesn't have the same goals as him, but they are working together for a common goal. That is the very foundation of human nature. We each have our own desires, but we come together to work towards a common goal. (Naturally, people will oppose each other, but that is natural as well.)

It's been awhile since we had the strategy of targeting Tokiyuki and him evading it. Big moment for Akiie!

Sakamoto Days Chapter 174

Well next chapter about to be a heartbreaker. Kind of interesting the Taro (well mostly because of Hana) has adopted the no killing rule that Uzuki seemed to follow for most of his life. No surprise Asaki manipulating events and more than likely staged the order to set Rion up. It would be massively fukked up if Uzuki's first kill was for the woman he loves. Rion willing to kill so that the man he loves can stay kind.

Pacing is wacky to me. I feel like more focus on seeing how Rion and Uzuki got to where they are now would have been a big help here.

Akane-Banshi Chapter 118

Shiguma's Art is definitely going to be a core foundation of this story in the long term. Very curious to learn more.

For Akane getting the promotion was the practical hard part, all the customs to prepare for the promotion is exhausting. When you consider how much must go in Shin'uichi Test, you must be impressed by how Makieru managed that. Good way for us to appreciate how much work he put in. I love the term a good kind of tired. You are tired from your work, but it is work you are proud of.

Shiguma is keeping his promise, but on the condition Akane will be his opener next month. Great stuff!

Centuria Chapter 14

This is such a fukked situation where, no matter what happens, only despair will happen.
  • Angvall kills Diana. (It won't happen, but imagining this would be fukked up.)
  • Julian kills Angvall. Like Angvall mentioned, the villagers would be spared, but imagine the guilt Julian must feel for killing someone he considers family.
  • If Julian runs away how the villagers and Titi will be branded as traitors.
This world truly is unforgiving.

Hima-ten Chapter 2

"Why can't you be more direct?" She is a tsundere bro. :mjlol:
Cute chapter. I like Iemori as the MC. He is VERY diligent with his work, which is to be respected. I was hoping he would compliment how she looks at her "worst". He does have a point. It is obvious she isn't incapable of cleaning. One of the luxuries of making good money for a living is able to hire people to tedious tasks.

Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi Chapter 4

Really nice chapter. Akira is a sweet girl, but compared to Kiyoshi, she is weak. It's funny how different they are. Kiyoshi is strong as hell, but lacks courage. Meanwhile, Akira's issue was with her strength. While she didn't beat the demon, her courage is what saved that kid's life. Hopefully, she does get stronger though so the gap isn't so massive between these too.
