Started reading this after the anime ended recently. Anime really showcased it does well with the supernatural mystery elements. As well as great character development for Oto. Looking forward to reading it more.
Issho being a hardass as ever. But it kind of makes sense that Akane is the one to earn Issho's approval.
Great job by Makieru. Great job at making Zensho eat his words. Despite being an antagonist and especially for this arc, this series did a great job fleshing him out. He has an awful personality, but he can't lie about the art of Makieru's performance.
Awesome chapter and looking forward for what comes next.
Mission: Yozakura Family Chapter 232
I feel like at this point the point that Hulang was an enemy of the Yozakura family all along is not something to be surprised about. But it's clear because of that she denies her feelings. While yes, it would be nice to have her child back, but I get the feeling she has grown fond of Kengo the closest thing she had to a son. Not to mention her relationship with Rei, which we don't know too much about.
Ultimately getting Hulang to open up for the first time is key. Really excited to see Kengo's true spring blooming.
Sakamoto Days Chapter 172
Man it's really nice to see Akira again. Also, the personas that Uzuki makes up is based on his experience and knowledge. Truly Takamura is unbeatable if Rion is telling Akira to get out of there.
I hope the Rion Uzuki flashback is next. The fact that Rion's persona is so fleshed out in Uzuki really highlights that their relationship really grew once they got separated from Taro and Nagumo.
The Elusive Samurai Chapter 162
They are familiar with Genba, but they aren't aware of Natsu. War is one where getting accurate information is vital. One wrong report can be costly. Shizuku using Natsu was clear as hell and props for her. Really a great moment for her.
Next chapter looks to be a really big one.
Blue Box Chapter 155
As the seniors move on I love the quote you move on from being teammates, but you are friends for life. This is only the end for their time together as a team not as friends.
Tbh parents pickup on stuff about their children really well. Considering how long Natsu has lived in Taki's house, Taki's parents have come to known him. No surprise he knows, I just hope Natsu comes clean. It's one thing to keep it a secret, but lying about it to your partner's father would feel wrong to me. Especially considering how considerate and nice both of Taki's parents are.
Centuria Chapter 12
Great chapter. Just the manner of killing a baby because of the prophecy is fukked up man. The prophecy will happen because Julian will be forced to defend Diana. I knew something bad was going to happen, but you hate to see it.
It feels like at this point things aren't looking good for Angvall. Sacrificing herself so Julian to escape is my guess. I hope at least Titi can escape with Julian and Dianna.
So Ctarnidd of the Abyss is one scary Unique Boss, it basically plays the game by its own rules. So the issue as long as Ctarnidd has them trapped, they have to play his game. Although Sunraku utilizing all of these rules and used them to his advantage against the Arctus Regalecus. That ability is just . A big issue is that there is a timer here for 7 days and of course reality has to be a factor. Not everybody can be logged in all day. Which I like adds a realistic obstacle. For Sunraku he promised Kei that he would help him in his pro gamer tournament, making the fight against Ctarnidd even harder.
But Sunraku now gets to see both Towa and Kei IRL for the first time. Of course Towa and him are just fukking around like in SLF . Meg who seems like a serious pro gamer must be like seeing those two. But the big thing that Kei brings up is that the game they are playing will feel like SLF since their devs helped with development. That brings an interesting element since it is stated SLF is region locked in Japan and their main opponent is from the US.
The game Galaxia Heroes Chaos is actually really interesting. It's basically a superhero comic book fight game similar to Injustice. But here role playing is rewarded for both heroes and villains. That dynamic and how the players use it is very interesting. In fact, it's even possible to beat your opponent without fighting them by acquiring a chaos cube which if you find one and your gauge is at max you win. Although it feels like a more niche scenario.
We quickly see how Sunraku and Towa play this game. Sunraku has a very relentless strategy of making you play his game. Meanwhile, Towa literally role plays in being evil similar to how she plays in SLF. Next up is Sunraku's practice match with Kei. That should be interesting.
So you surprise as they were exploring the initial levels of the dungeon Will felt pretty useless. To be fair when you are teamed up with the best mages in your school that isn't to be expected. A bit of an important flashback is when Workner talks to Will about search. From the sounds it is a fundamental spell to detect monsters. The issue being that mages can be too reliant on it. Some higher level monsters can evade it, so beyond academia relying on it too much is a bad habit. So when they find the floor keeper dead, the monster that killed it evaded it as an example. Making matters worse the ground crashed, and the group ended up on the 11th floor, which is considered tower territory. Basically monsters that more than likely are beyond the skill level of students.
The party gets separated in 3 pairs. Will & Wignall, Colette & Lihanna and Sion & Julius. We get a little focus on Wignall and an interesting fact that he is a lot similar to Will. Essentially Wignall is to Elves as Will is to Human mages. Both are considered a failure since they can't match up to what is considered the standard. Just like Will has the motivation of meeting up Elfaria at the top of the tower, Wignall has the motivation of meeting up with Eleanor at the top of the tower. It takes him awhile, but he finally puts his trust his Will and final can use illusion magic to harness physical form. Will giving it his all was a big help. I really like how this friendship was formed as Wignall swallowed his pride as an elf and respected Will for his actual abilities and not hide behind his own insecurities.
The situation is in chaos even on the floors above. Professors on the 9th and 10th are dead, and the 8th floor is under attack. Luckily both Workner and Edward has started to get people evacuating to the 6th floor. Lihanna and Colette end up encountering a rather unusual pair. The headless one mentions breaking the fake sky. That clearly is the sky that is meant to protect everyone below it. That breaking would imply the start of the calamity, but why would they want to cause that commotion? Also, what is the purpose of causing the stampede in the dungeon? Clearly these two are well above these groups capabilities. Due to what I assume the two professors coming, they have an Evil Grand Duke take care of them, which is the same monsters that they encountered in the 10th floor. Can they hold out until Workner and Edward make it?
Alright I really like the direction this is heading.
No surprise that the Evil Grand Duke was a tough adversary for the group. But how Will got everyone to work together was impressive. His friendship with Colette. His rivalry with Sion. His knowledge of Elfaria's magic for Julius. The bond he created with Wignall. Finally, the trust he solidified with Lihanna. Actually Lihanna being opened with what she wanted out of Will initially was disappointing to hear, or perhaps she can't put it into words. But one thing is for sure is that Will has essential leadership skills that the others have trouble with. In despite that Will is scared once his goggles break. It used to belong to Elfaria and that connection kept him going. I like how we get to see that he is scared as well, but he won't let anyone die due to his fears.
As Will motivated Sion we got to see that the sword plays a vital role in this story. It is only when Wand and Sword are used together that the group can take down the Grand Duke. Sion's magic is able to power up Will's sword so that he can deliver the final strike. Obviously the rest of the swarm of enemies is of big concern. Luckily the King of the Magia Vander and the most powerful mage comes to their rescue. But Will's eyes are drawn to Finn, which most likely has to do that Will strength lies in the sword instead of the Wand.
Finn's addition adds a lot of interesting pieces to the puzzle. First he brings light of news that there were experiments being done in the dungeon by the duo the group ran into before they had to fight the Grand Duke for the second time. What they are trying to do is still concerning. The other major thing is that Finn looks after the swords while Calderon looks after the mages. Calderon allowing Will to be in the mage school isn't a bad thing since he wants it, but it def feels like this isn't the path he is meant to follow. At the very least we could see Finn showing up again in the near future. But Will ambition of joining Elfaria does raise a point why both Colette and Rosti have a disliking for her. Her accomplishments in magic are to be praised, but as Will's friends it's hard not to be annoyed at her.
It seems Edward is back being the douche professor. We all know what is happening most likely. He doesn't want to see Will reach higher heights than he did considering Will has no talents for magic. The fact he purposely made a test where one student that needed 1 credit to make it into the tower. That's beyond shytty. Not an insane thing to see professors screw over their students because of their own beliefs. But when you consider everything grinded and accomplishments. For him to lose out on making it to the tower is beyond fukked up.
Alright this seems to be where the main story is finally kicking in it seems.
No surprise Will is down in the dumps. An event called the Terminalia is held at the end of the year when the Magia Vander shore up the Great Barrier that holds up the sky. Obviously that is when the group devices their plan. We see similar gates that the student saw in the 11th floor. But now there is a raid of monsters attacking. To make matters worse some of them are equipped with a Mage Slayer. Essentially it makes magic ineffective, which is a mage's only weapon. It seems because the Magia Vander are needed to hold up the barrier, they send the dwarves since like Will they use brute force rather than magic.
However, the real trouble begins when a new monster shows up. The Devander is the one that attacks Will, and it is a monster from the 40th levels. Which is way beyond the Grand Duke, and it is one where the Magia Vander have trouble against even at full strength. Now to make matters worse it absorbs the energy from the other fallen monsters. So basically killing them just makes the Devander stronger. Tbh a big condition for this plan seems to be for Finn not to be present, and he knows something is up. Will and Dwarves stand no chance against while magic is useless for the most part.
To add on top of that Devander is fukking cleaver is stopping Rosti before it can power up Will's sword. That seems to be the winning condition, but how do they create a winning condition with that monster clearly on alert? Making matters worse Rosti goes down man

The last manga out of the recent batch for WSJ. Its start is a pretty standard RomCom with a potential love triangle dynamic. Male mc is decent. He is hardworking and earnest, but has the overachiever problem of not saying no. The Heroine is a giant celebrity, but is a mess at home. Though she does know how to succeed in the real world. Could be decent. I liked the first chapter.
Spy x Family Chapter 101
Martha's motivation to reach back home is Henry. On one hand I am happy she isn't giving up, but when she finds out she will be crushed.
The purpose of war is not always easy to define. For some it is to conquer and for some it is to protect. So when the war ends with neither side won per say, it makes sense to question if it was really worth it. War is just a miserable thing. Look at Martha as the biggest example. Honest I expect next chapter to wrap it up, and it's going to be the saddest so far.
Mission: Yozakura Family Chapter 233
Great chapter. Essentially his True Spring Blooming allows him to copy various amount of substances makes him very effective in combat. Good job on Kengo.
Man the page he says that Rei is everyone's mother, but he would have Hulang as his only mother. You know that touched her heart and conflicted her and pained her considering what her task from Asa was. She never betrayed him, but in many ways Kengo was the closest thing to a son she had.
Centuria Chapter 13
How cruel is it. It is one thing if Julian was the one meant to be an eliminated, but a toddler? That is really testing Angvall's loyalty, and it took seeing a flash forward to solidify it. Here is the thing, nobody is born good or evil. However, if Diana sees Julian die in front of her you know damn well her heart will grow cold and set her on the path in the flash forward.
This is definitely a case of them trying to stop the prophecy, but little do they know that they are setting in motion with what they are doing.
Sakamoto Days Chapter 173
Uzuki hit Rion's soft spot saying he wants to save Gaku and the rest of the gang. After all we know she has Akira. Man we all know the ending to this flashback won't be a happy one.
Akane-banshi Chapter 117
It's a fun chapter to see everyone happy and celebrating. But Issho changing before the expulsion incident is an interesting development. I wonder what exactly happened. As expected Akane is motivated to even get Issho's approval as expected.
The Elusive Samurai Chapter 163
Moronao's multitasking is byond any normal multitasking sheeesh. Even a surprise attack between Tokiyuki and Nitta had him unfazed.
I am actually really interested in how he met Takauji.
Blue Box Chapter 156
Oh, I am liking how the next goal for Natsu is shaping up. Natsu wanting to show that yes Taki has been there for her and has been important. At the end of the day she stayed for basketball so it is understandable. But I love Taki's dad when saying you might be surprised when you talk to your father. What a great dad, the last few chapters really showcased Taki has some great parents.
Also, not a big surprise Kyo was made captain. Though the fun teasing at Taki. We got a summer arc next.
You and I Are Polar Opposites Chapter 58
What a great chapter. For Taira, he is afraid to lose what he currently has with Azuma. Given his previous relationship. The biggest thing for him is to overcome that fear.
At least Azuma's resolve to wait as long as she needs to is there. But the last page hit me in the feels. She sees Suzuki, and she has just a lovely relationship with Tani. For once for her to have that would mean the world to her.
Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi Chapter 3
Honestly this manga has a solid amount of charm. And now our cast is evolving. Sakaki seems like a fun mentor character, and now they are adding Akari. The comedic tone works well, but doesn't overstay its welcome.
Red Cat Ramen Chapter 107
Man what a sweet chapter. Also, that cat looked like Sasaki? Although the face didn't completely match so may be a different cat.
So this is where the prologue of the story ends. Very fitting that the sword Elfie gave Will in his enhanced state is what got the job done.
So after Rosti gets killed Will is in a bad spot. Workner words of Will being their last hope isn't surprising. But what was surprising is that before he collapses is that he could, he uses one type of magic. All you you need is a little will power and a silver light that can cut through everything. The former does sound like courage. And the latter means the right weapon. Essentially as a sword is Will's power limitless, and it just depends on the type of weapon. Courage has been the one thing pushes Will all this time. Pushing hit to reach the impossible to meet up with Elfie again. Now the limiter being off is strange. What does this actually mean?
One theme that this arc really hits home on is that for a world where magic is supreme. You have these mages now being forced to be humble. No surprise they are powerless to help. With the Magia Vander unable to move without putting the whole world at risk. You see Edward risking his life to protect a dwarf, which he told early they should sacrifice their lives. It's very fitting for his character. Whose belief was that magic reigns supreme in this world. He is a very arrogant person, but given the context of the situation he won't put himself over those who have the opportunity to turn the tide of battle. Also adding to this the students that mocked Will. But Colette, Lihanna, Sion and Wignall each were touched by Will in different ways. They understand the situation at hand. Offering their moral support to understand that they were wrong to mock him. Like how Will was always willing to move forward, these students finally do the same. Well at least I hope.
The Devander is one vicious opponent. Where it breaks Will's original sword. Even though Elfie can't come down and fight with Will, she is able to drop a sword to aid him in this fight. It is very fitting for Will whose goal was to be Elfie's sword, now in many ways they are fighting together. Will wields a sword of Elfie's magic basically. And with that the Devander and all the other enemies are no match for Will. Clearly Will is who Finn was searching for, but what is Will's destiny? How does Will's power exactly work? Is the 5th element courage? Or is this something related to light?
