Just finished catching up with The Elusive Samurai. Imo TES, Akane-Banshi and Dandadan highlight the 3 best series Jump has at the moment. Though Sakamoto Days is the best action/battle manga by a wide margin. Things for TES I should mention.

I love how Tokiyuki's relationship with Akiie mirrors his relationship with Yorishige in many ways. But the difference is that Yorishige was like a father, while Akiie is more like an older brother. As Akiie is one that pushes Tokiyuki to his potential, while Yorishige cared for his safetey, but put in him in situation that he could grow. Very fatherly way. It does feel Akiie's death is impending, but the growth of Tokiyuki and his relationship with these two men has been fantastic. And by the looks of it the Son of Nitta has more and more developed a nice friendship with Tokiyuki. Very much a younger brother dynamic for Tokiyuki that has benefited both kids.

I love how the series stays true to itself and fleeing to live. We see this for both Natsu and Shizuku. We got to the reveal that Shizuku isn't human. Gods blessing in human form. Which we got teased about it very early in the series. Essentially using too much divine power for her would shorten her lifespan. Tokiyuki asking her not to shorten her lifespan is true to himself. Her encounter with Mima headlines that. It makes me wonder how Mima's father pushes her like that. Will we see her fade away? Does her father actually hold any feelings for her? While for Natsu it's clear she appreciates Moronao for raising her. Though Genba through his trickery was able to get in her skull that she has a new family that appreciates her. Still messed up how Genba did it, but it's clear it was for her own good.

Fubuki plot line is the next big one. How can he save him from whatever force Takauji's influence has on him. Clearly there are signs of the old Fubuki remembering his real father. The biggest thing is how can this force make it to Takauji. Even more so what is the plan to beat him?

So our protagonist is a War Veteran that loves alcohol. Interesting. It seems more than likely Paul will be our more inexperienced lead. There is a lot he can learn from him and Hopper just wants some good alcohol.

Really solid first chapter. Curious where it goes going forward.

Akane-Banshi Chapter 114

Great chapter, it really showcases how far Makieru has come. We see how he was different from Toru. But to see that he was able to improve those traits is great. He truly mastered his craft is of deserving of the promotion. Next chapter will be fantastic.

Mission: Yozakura Family Chapter 230

Fantastic chapter. First we get the reveal that Kosmos belongs to a branch of the Yozakura family. Unlike the other Gold Rank Spies she would never be loyal to Asa. But the prophecies she brought were all true. First was Momo and Rei who created the 10th family, started the rebellion against Asa. Then the prophecy regarding the twins also holds true. Now finally we have the prophecy that Taiyo received. Either him or Asa will die if not both. No surprise that Taiyo would never be fine accepting Asa's plots.

But I love the focus on Taiyo in this chapter. While he appears more composed and mature on the outside, he is still that nervous kid on the inside. Seeing his growth throughout the series has been amazing. I love how Momo would only have Taiyo look into his jacket if he has kids. He didn't want Taiyo to create kids because of that prophecy. But of course his plan was to have kids with Mutsumi since he loves the whole family. The fact that his kids will have a family that is very much normally is such a heartfelt feeling to him.

This one thing Asa lacks is love. He doesn't think somebody would do something out of love. Thinking of all the suffering he has put Tsubomi through is evident enough of that. At this point Asa is putting a lot of faith in the prophecy. Yes it has been proven to be true in the two previous cases. Killing them does not imply that the Yozakura Bloodline continues.

Sakamoto Days Chapter 170

Still need more information on Shin's power. I imagine he can't use that repeatedly so it worked fine this chapter. But what are the drawbacks to it?
Taro loves his family, but that last page hurt to see him say that. Though I imagine next chapter there will be a conversation between him and Aoi, hopefully.

The Elusive Samurai Chapter 160

Good thing Korjiro and Shina were there to back up Tokujumaru. I do like Shizuku's plan for Shina. Having Kojiro watch over her so she doesn't over exert herself. Meanwhile, good thing Tokiyuki's resolve doesn't waver when they reveal that Fubuki is fully invested in Takauji's plans. Looks like the plan is to outlast Fubuki, which still aids in Tokiyuki's strengths. The plan is more so don't let Fubuki beat you rather than beating Fubuki. Since the latter is asking too much from Tokiyuki at the moment.

Blue Box Chapter 153

We know much Natsu has been key to motivating Taki. But this chapter really highlighted how much his mom has made with him. Being there to hear his highs and being there for his lows. Even on her birthday her quote of saying I am still your mom on my birthday.
Taki has always been her number 1 in terms of prioritizing. All the signs of a great mom and I loved we got this chapter for her to get some appreciation.

Centuria Chapter 10

Nice to see Titi calling Julian and Diana family to Angvall. But on the other spectrum Angvall really praises the king though there is a mystery about him given his appearance. Looks like Arkos has similar markings that Julian has. I am curious what this means.

Read through the first volume of "The Kept Man of the Princess Knight". This was a decent adaptation of the first 2 chapters from the light novel. Biggest note here is seeing character designs for both Polly and Sterling adds a bit more since those weren't available in the novel.

The Ln I can strongly recommend, as one of the better new series after really liking the first volume. The manga needs to get to chapters 3+4 of Vol 1 Ln before I can get a feel if it is a good adaptation of the Ln. Since those were the chapters that really drew me in. Art is solid and getting an additional short story was nice.

Decent first chapter. The paneling was great as reading it felt immersive. Curious where it goes from here. Does it do something that can set itself apart? Or the fear it will go the generic route?

Dandadan Chapter 157

Poor Zuma. The worse thing is to think what could I have done? The loss of his little brother hit his mom so hard that it made him think would things have been better if I were the one to hit the bucket rather than him. That is depressing to think about and the cop being pull him out of that line and value his life really shows how great of a man he is.

Now the mission is to save Zuma. Let's hope it goes well.

Read through the first volume of it. It is written by the author of Danmachi @LordDeathwatch @twan83, anime airs starts in July.

The idea of this is world ruled by magic and the Will is a great swordsman who has make potency could have potential to it. There are instances like in chapter four when he faced the Frost Rex where it would be impossible to beat it with his sword. The idea of he has this strength, and he puts in the work so hopefully it showcases his wits more than his brawn.

In this world the sky isn't really the sky, but rather a barrier. Essentially if that gets destroyed calamity would ensue, so that could be an interesting plot point. Magia Vander are the most proficient in magic and thus are seen as the protectors of the world basically. Will's main source of motivation is to reunite with his childhood friend Elfaria, who became the youngest Magia Vander. It will be impressive if he accomplishes his goal.

The dungeon is one introduced place that carries mystery. It is more practical than the magic that gets practiced, and we see Will be able to handle his own than most of his classmates. The term the dungeon is the mother of all holds significance. And does it relate to the calamity?

Wistoria: Wand & Sword Volume 2

Got to say the art in this manga is great. This is the only series Toshi Aoi is credited for, so I am curious if he will go for his own series eventually. Regarding the volume.

The big focus in this volume was the Grand Magic Festival. It's basically an event where you can get scouted to the upper institute. Which is Will's best shot at reuniting with Elfaria. We also get quickly introduced to the 3 top students in the academy, Lihanna, Wignall and Julius. Julius is the one we get focused on, and he is a bigger a$$hole than Sion. He comes to the tavern that Will works at and simply mocks him repeatedly and the dwarves in the crowd. Will is the type of person that would take the abuse if it is about, but not for the people he cares about. So Julius puts him up to enter the Grand Magic Festival, which is what Will needed to do, but now he has extra motivation. It also really highlights how in this world magic means everything

He ends up forming a team with both Colette and Sion. A great showcase of teamwork between Will and Colette where he uses the magic gauntlet to his advantage. He easily handles the golem that he was having trouble with before and allows his team to come out front. Julius seemed to know that Sion did not love the idea of teaming up with Will. Using that to his advantage he taunts Sion and Will to fight. While Sion acting like an idiot here, there are two things this showcases from him. The first is that the work he has put in. Basically having a guardian that is used for both defending its caster and attacking is extremely impressive. More so the former is its main purpose. Also, the fact that Sion sees Will as a rival. Essentially Sion feels like Will hulimated him and so the fact that his motivation was on Julius instead most likely pissed him off even more.

It seems Julius was teleporting or providing copies of himself with a magic tool that came from a Magia Vander? Luckily Colette was able to stop the fight between Will and Sion after all this was the one opportunity Will had to prove himself, and he was about to waste it. Now we got Will meeting up with Julius's team and curious how this will play out.

Wistoria: Wand & Sword Volume 3

The fight between Will & Julius served more so as a demonstration how talented Elfaria was at a young age. The spell "El Glace Frosso", is essentially a spell that creates Ice clones of the user. Julius needs help from two of his classmates in order to use it, and he knows he hasn't mastered it. The biggest point his arrogance claiming to be superior to Elfaria and put her down would really set Will off. The thing is Elfaria created that spell at two years old and Will is one such person who would know the in's and out. This showcases how studious Will is, the bond between Will & Elfaria is strong and Elfaria's talent for magic.

Of course the fight between Will and Julius wasn't the purpose for the event as Wignall received the crown first. While Will didn't win he received a good amount of attention out of his performance. It's very sweet for Colette to look past what the other kids did to him, but Will is simply a good-natured and hardworking kid. Although the date chapter for the most part was weird because it held a rivalry of sorts between Colette & Rosti. No question Rosti is important to Will as he helps with tools that Will uses. Though his obsession seems to go beyond Colette and Elfaria because he literally interrupted Will & Colette. Of course the series will obviously pair off Will & Elfaria.

Lihanna goes out to recruit Will to team up with Sion, Julius, Wignall and herself to form a party for the All Student Praxis. One thing that is clear is that Lihanna is in some ways is even denser than Will consider she doesn't really think much of how much Julius & Sion hate him. Lihanna is a perfectionist, no surprise she has the name Miss Perfect. Her skill set in many ways is try imagining if Will instead of having no talent for magic actually had amazing top tier talent for magic. That is Lihanna's skill set. One contrast between her and Will is that I guess there is an enthusiasm that Will has that I guess Lihanna may lack. The other notable member is Wignall. Much like Sion and Julius he thinks very little of Will's skill set. But he is much more open-minded than those two. Considering Will beat those two and Lihanna who ranks above him respects Will's skills.

The all student praxis is essentially an opportunity for students to earn more credits by opening more floors in the dungeon. Lihanna makes an impression quite early taking care of a mob of ant monsters. She can use a form of magic that can be useful in close combat, which makes her standout and live up to her nickname. On the other side there seems to be some prize in the dungeon that two people seek, and the students might be an unfortunate casualty. One interesting bit of information there is a leader for the Magia Vander, but is currently not around at the moment. Curious what type of person that is.

You know I wanted to shyt on because it's another exorcist series, but this one has a decent start. So basically our mc is strong, but is a coward. Clearly 12 other demon lords will be a threat to him going forward. I actually liked when he said there isn't a demon here showing that he can empathize with him as he has a family he is supporting back home.

I like it enough to continue with it.

Akane-banshi Chapter 115

What a beautiful chapter. Makieru's growth before and after Toru's expulsion is well characterized. He is putting his emotions in words and moving forward. Which is the only thing he can do. Fantastic performance out of Makieru. To even get the honest emotions out of Zensho. Not doubt Shiguma couldn't be more proud.

Spy x Family Chapter 100

Martha being saved because she was near the artillery made by the Blackbells. I see what Endo went with that. Overall a very horrific chapter where these women wanted to leave, but were being threatened.

Martha was very lucky that Baron found her and that woman had a big heart. Taking care of a solider from the country they are at war with. The real selling point neither side wants this war. This woman could have refused to help after all her own daughter died because of the war. But she took care of Martha, which shows her character. And the message saying go home was a really nice touch.

This is an example again when this series gets series with its writing, its top notch

Sakamoto Days Chapter 171

I loved this chapter because it tackled the core themes for this series. It reflected on the reason Taro went to remove the bounty on his head was so his family could live a normal life. Unfortunately because Rion personality Uzuki (assuming Rion was actually dead when it happened) put a bounty on his head it brought him back in to the assassin work. Nagumo with the realistic scenarios. Destroy the JAA or kill X to prove your innocence. Although tbh the latter still feels too uncertain to be a solution.

I loved how we got to see the backstory of how Aoi and Taro started the shop. Basically the shop was created, so Taro could have a place outside of the assassin world. So them losing the shop would symbolize that they can't have a normal life.

Taro's plan is fukking crazy. But fukk it I love this direction. You get to keep the store and you expand on the brand itself. It also pushes the series in two parts. First part is dealing with the JAA and then Uzuki. Now if Taro and his allies take over the JAA how would Uzuki respond? I still feel like his biggest motivation has to be going against Asaki.

This definitely adds a layer that really intrigues me.

The Elusive Samurai Chapter 161

It is true that by himself Tokiyuki can't beat Fubuki. Ayako having Tokiyuki's back as always. Landing a nice hit on Fubuki to boot. Utsunomiya also showcases his brutality in full swing. Damn Nitta almost was able to avenge his retainer. Of course the PoS uses Miura so he can escape and leaves someone to make sure his accountable. Moronao's logic is very sound since taking out Akiie is the optimal solution. Now I am curious what Shizuku has planned with Genba and Natsu.

Mission: Yozakura Family Chapter 231

Of course Taiyo taking care of Asa wasn't going to be easy. Asa being able to use multiple bloomings isn't surprising. But I am curious what else Taiyo has planned.

Good job by Shinzo separating the big fight so it is Kengo and Hulang 1 on 1. It's clear how much Kengo admires Hulang, but in some ways does he even know her true self. It's awesome we finally are getting Hulang backstory next chapter.

Centuria Chapter 11

Honestly Angvall being the type of kid that didn't smile much makes sense. But she has found her place with people she really enjoys being around.
Man I just have some many bad feelings that might occur soon. I am nervous.

Blue Box Chapter 154

Ok this chapter I had mixed feelings on. Parts I love and parts I hated.

Man Haryu truly has a great girlfriend in Karen. She truly is a partner for him for life. But she is spot on that you gave it your all. It's normally to feel frustrated at the end of the day. While Nishida didn't have the same ambitious that Haryu had, but you can see the effect he had on him. He loved his time playing alongside Haryu. This part of the chapter is great.

I am very disappointed we just went past Taki getting eliminated. It feels like it is a big enough moment that it shouldn't be glossed over and readers are unaware that he lost. It makes sense that he lost, but I wished the match was focused on a bit.

I am curious now since Taki and Natsu fell short of their goals. I assume the next arc should be Natsu's family and more importantly her dad. Furthermore, I am curious where it goes beyond that though.

Turbo Granny makes the comedy so hilarious and Mai offsetting that as a pain in the ass for Turbo Granny is perfect.

Goze Hotaru Chapter 13

As expected Hotaru loves to explore the unknown. That's one thing I love about her. Otsuki is definitely a hard ass given she gave Sango a hard time. Though Hotaru being the youngest is a valid point. I love the advice she gives Hotaru. Where is this place and who are we. Essentially in this location they don't know where they are so they need to pick who they ask to be housed by smartly. Don't brute force it.

Hotaru's hearing really shines. I am curious what Otsuki is writing.

Day 1 waking up you get reassurance that everything is starting to get better. It did a great job putting us in John's shoes. Basically you want to trust the assurance that everything will be better.
