All Star
At the start of the volume we get a brief overview of Ren. She is basically the best, she was on top of the world, etc. It makes sense why she has this superiority aura. Of course, with Kyouka's ability, she is forced to do Yuki's desires. Fun moment since Yuki is in direct control.
But the big focus of the volume was a focus on the Azuma family. Despite Fubuki being head of the 9th Squad, it is her mother who leads the Azuma family. Essentially, the Azuma family had a competition to determine who is the next head. Himari was basically considered the weak one until she joined the 7th squad. The flashback with Kyouka speaks volumes of Himari's state of mind back then. Being bullied, she lacked the confidence in herself. Working with Kyouka has helped that. In her first fight with Homare it really demonstrates how much she has grown in that time.
It wasn't until her match with Fubuki that we see Fubuki's strength, but also what Himari was capable of. For Fubuki her spear gives her a versatile combat set. She can set the range of it and the spear itself strengths her body. It serves as a good point that how she beat Homare in her last match ineffective here. As her mother Fubuki tried attacking her pride. Which was the 7th Squad. Interesting enough, it awakens Himari to be able to use multiple commander skills back to back at a slight less effective output. That was enough to get her mother on edge. Of course, awakening to such ability would fatigue her. But she made her family proud with how much she has grown.
What really raises Fubuki's character as a caring mother is what she says at the end to her own mother. She gives credit to her strength, but how she created a strained relationship with the branch family has only hurt their relationship. Look at Homare and Himari when they were young as proof. Essentially, for wanting to prioritize rebuilding allows the family to grow stronger together. Although the last page where Kuusetsu is raises some alarms going forward.
