Despite beating the Warlock, the gang still hasn't figured out the threat that is after Nico. Still, the backstory of how Ayako Makinose became a warlock is a reminder of how a sense of power can affect someone. She felt she deserved power, but at the end of the day, whoever was tempting her knew better to plainly trust her as her magic was removed as she mentioned who set her up. Which meant she died of old age. Granted, it removed the pact between her and Keigo. Tho the point served that without the Warlock's magic, Moi could take care of the wolf. Due to having Nico's support also he has a sharp mind when fighting.

As we see Keigo introducing his mom, plenty of things make sense. Her mom being in a wheelchair makes it clear why he entered a pact. Though to see Nico's magic able to heal Keigo's mom really showed what magic is capable of. Granted, it felt odd to see Keigo moving into with Nico and Moi as well. Will this continue to be a trend like we see in Sakamoto Days? Keigo and his werewolf side is rather interesting compared to Moi and Kanshi because these two are always in control. Meanwhile, for Keigo he transforms into a werewolf when he sees anything in a crescent shape. To add, moreover, the wolf retains Keigo's memories, but not the other way around. Also, we have Wolf's request to Nemu to bring him out once per month. He is definitely an interesting wild card worth keeping an eye on.

The rest of the volume was SoL episode chapters. Though one thing that is clear as day is Moi's feelings for Nico. As Nico uses the spell to unlock Moi's desires. Once he goes back, he still sees Nico in a special way, which more so confirms that the feelings Nico feels for Moi goes both ways.

Gokurakugai - Chapter 25: Nei as a little kid was adorable. Getting more curious about Shizuka's relation to Nei's family. The wording of "she is the woman you cast aside". Perhaps Nei and him are half siblings sharing the same father?

Witch Watch - Volume 5: Pretty solid volume. The starting portion at the beginning surrounding Nico & Moi was a nice demonstration of while Moi is not expressive, he isn't emotionless. Which is something Nico has always known, but it's a nice reminder to see it. There was the introduction to the student council, which is a bunch of clowns working under Tenryu. It is funny when we see Moi empathize with him because he has a similar role with his friends that live with him, but they aren't incompetent at least.

Miharu Kiryu brings a very interesting dynamic to the cast. As a bat familiar/vampire. Her ability to absorb magic gives her a lot of potential working alongside Nico's magic. Though him living with Moi makes a lot more sense than it did for Keigo as he couldn't have a normal high school life since he requires taking magical energy. The consequence of being so strong perhaps. I am curious about if we will ever see a female familiar since all the ones we have seen so far have been male.

shyts heating up :whew:

For Sion, we are introduced to his father and older sister for the first time. As the oldest son, he was one that would aim high. For Sion, he aims to protect his friends and his sister. Which makes more sense that he summons a Great Falcon so he can carry those he holds dear.

Hw2w8Tk.png

Granted, for Cariott this was all a test for Sion. Much like Zeo in how demanding he is to Will, the save is Cariott to Sion. Though Cariott will screw with you while Zeo, you have to feed the beast. Still, it is rather terrifying that the students thought they were spies, but rather they have been watched since the start. To make matters worse, with the Thunder Faction away, we got Gohita invading. At least this should be interested in how the cast deals with this without Will and Lihanna around.

Damn this chapter hit me in the feels. :mjcry: Mahiru's journey to being a doctor draws some parallels to Uryu, but in a different dynamic. For Uryu he lost his mother, and it felt like everything was going against him. The loss of his mother pushed him on the road to be a doctor. As a kid he lost his faith in the gods. For Mahiru she never understood the reality of being a doctor. The death of Uryu's mom pushed that on her. Which served a crucial lesson. So when Uryu wanted to be a doctor, she was tough on him. Though to see Uryu giving up his faith in the Gods deeply saddened her. So when the opportunity when the shrine opened up, she thought maybe this could be that opportunity.

tdu8AjB.png

This even more so pushes Uryu's goal of being a doctor and being head of the shrine. Though one thing I am wondering about everything, we saw in Yuna's arc and she has that extra spark. Is there a way the two of the could Co-lead the shrine? Though I am not sure how the technical details work regarding that.

As the end of the last chapter was a focus on Nene and Shinobu's conversation. At the same, Rikka kissing Arisu is not what I was expecting.

A2Jlqyy.jpg

Though as Rikka has been aware of Iko's feelings for Arisu, it finally clicked for Iko. This kind of shows that Iko's confidence has been slightly growing because for her to make that claim wasn't easy. Especially given how Rikka usually teases back.

If this gets a good anime adaptation, this scene will go crazy in the anime if they do it in real time.

Empyreal Cabinet - Chapter 8: So the target is definitely Miyuku Sengoku, Minstry of Central Affairs. Now how to catch him in the act.

Witch Watch - Volume 7: The two big noticeable interesting things surrounding the pairings of Keigo and Nemu. We knew Nemu had expectations of being a witch on her mother. Though it is surprising that Keigo used to be a skater. It rather makes the similarities to Nemu where they both had high expectations, which is why Keigo really empathizes with her much more than the other guys.

Meanwhile, for Nico and Moi with the chapter showing Nico's letter to Moi, it really showcases how meaningful their friendship is from both sides. Nico as a kid was rather emotional and Moi was there to protect her. Still, because Moi was an ogre him making him friends was impossible, even so lying to his mom. Still, the fact that he kept that letter all of this time holds value. Still, the fact we are learning about curses and the fact that letter is one is cruel. The idea of Moi's feelings are locked because of that letter. Though at least with the resolution of the chapter there isn't a cause for concern, so that's good.

Finished Solo Leveling, very predictable imo but the action is gonna go crazy, hopefully the studio can maintain the quality

Jobless Reincarnation is still the best completed story out of all of the major shows that came out the last few years imo, it's too well-rounded

The main plot is finally revealing itself. :lupe:

We get introduced to new antagonists here and that being an Ogre and Witch. Or rather, as Nico eventually points out, both are warlocks. Though the bigger focus is on Ran as he was someone who lived with Moi for a while. Though vanished rapidly. As we know, Moi was always alone because of his strength of being an Ogre and you can imagine finally having someone of his caliber to go against and not worry about his strength meant a lot to Moi. Sadly, he left. Granted on one hand, it is good that Moi reunited with Nico and has made the friends he has. Though you can understand the betrayal that Moi feels.

pXAG3Og.png

ZI998uG.png

Ran's problems is something that Moi couldn't comprehend. The big twist is that he is of both a Warlock and an Ogre. He is the undying Warlock. His mom who suffered with an endless life and his father was the ogre that watched over her. Though with the two, it is interesting how her immortality had an effect on Ran's father. You could say the familiars themselves are bound to their witches. Curious if this gets brought up again. Also, how much of the ability to commend the dead has Ran mastered? Though the question remains he could have been an older brother to Moi.

uUIwsBO.png

TSTisHO.png

AdMwza3.png

pHkK2NX.png

Though the most frightening news is the Warlocks plan is to bring back Jura who was sealed in the war. Though given that Ran and the other warlock retreated, it makes sense that the four familiars pose a strength deep within. Though is it taboo for a witch to use their magic for war? Or is there another reason. At least there is a date that they need to prepare for at least.

Ichi the Witch - Chapter 25: It does seem the true nature of Bakugami, At the very least with his connection to World Hater, it appears that Gokuraku's observations are true.

Damn this chapter had me like :damn:

I did not see this twist coming. Although it was a good move to kill of Asaki. As a villain, Asaki was very meh. He pushed Kei to who he is now, but to me, him being a manipulator was running thin for where we are in the present. But beyond that, I don't think there was much you could do with him, especially with where Kei is now.

j0HB4aM.png

MSUz2qb.png

I really feel like this was Oki's call playing the odds. Though I doubt that most of the original members of the order will stick around. I guess I am more interested to learn what are the changes Kei will want and how that will conflict with Sakamoto's crew.

Ei25ECj.png

Akane-banshi - Chapter 149: Well, Shomei brings an interesting presence to this series. Although different from Issho. Curious what Akane is still lacking.

Kagurabachi - Chapter 71: It is sweet to see how Samura goes out of his way for his daughter. Despite the circumstances. Of course Yura went and took that away.

With Coach Ubochi's introduction, he adds a new dynamic to coaching that we haven't seen before. As most of the time, Tsukasa and the others guide their skaters. Though it is worth noting that it comes with practice. The special harness can be thought of as something similar to assisting someone when they are lifting weights. While you aren't doing the moves on your own merit, you are getting your body used to it. Thus, it will allow your body to be able to process what it is like. Thus, it makes it easier to perform the move without the harness. Though the harness itself is not as difficult to control as Tsukasa hurts his ribs because of not being used to it with Inori. Ubochi mentions there are risks in using it, but, of course, for Tsukasa the reward of Inori's growth is worth it.

As Inori and Tsukasa head to Niigata, it is very interesting that Ubochi mentions for Inori to go for the Quadruple Salchow. It does give her a weapon to go against Hikaru, and she can always come back to working on her fundamentals for the Triple Lutz. Though in contrast to this we are introduced to Miku Ahiru. Unlike with Tsukasa where he wants Inori to be the one making the decisions, and he will go with what she wants. With Miku she has two coaches in Kohei Kamogawa and Juna Shiratori. With Kohei serving as her strategist and Juna as who helps with her choreography. They make for an interesting 3-person team which we haven't seen yet. Though it makes sense given that Niigata doesn't have many skaters. It is interesting with the comments of Miku being a Golden Egg ready to hatch into her true potential, and she thinks about quitting. It is a sad reality since I assume they can't keep the rink open just for her. But it is sad when where a person lives can decide if they can continue with their passion.

For Tsukasa we have known that when it is for someone else's sake, he is willing to go the extra mile. But this volume emphases that even more. Between showing that he is putting everything in Hitomi's final performance and to making sure Inori will be able to execute the Quadruple Salchow on her own. Though Jun being aware of them going for that is quite interesting. It does make seeing how Inori and Hikaru do in the next competition be the most interesting.

Witch Watch - Volume 11: I do like the use of Nico's magic to create bypass the training arc for Moi and learn the ultimate Ogre technique. I do like that the 4th one was Ran's father. Which makes it interesting when we get the rematch. Beyond cool to see Nemu feeling guilty of unable to be of help. I am curious what her role is as the others can contribute more than her. Curious what her build up will lead to. Also, learning that how a witch uses their magic could lead them to be a warlock. Though I expect it comes from the intent and since Nico was under the spell influence, I doubt that would change the color of the stone in her wand.

Furan Tsugihagi makes for an interesting addition to the cast. Despite not being a witch or familiar, her remote controlling her own robot allows her to fit right in. Even more so, this adds a group for Mahiru alongside Fran and Jekyll. Though something as simple as not being afraid to touch another friend is something Mahiru is not used to. This friendship has the potential to be something really endearing.

As we learned from Nemu, Moi is cursed. Though the idea of his true feelings will eventually beat out the curse isn't a guarantee. While the effort the guys make for Nico to break the curse, it is touching that what does break is Nico's confession and her comment on how she loves that Moi isn't perfect, which is what she loves most about him. While it is disappointing Moi overheard that, it stresses that hearing someone express their genuine feelings can be the most meaningful to us.

Damn things are heating up :whew:

The main theme of the last volume is now Moi's feelings for Nico are finally there. Though I do find it interesting now the ball is in the other familiars court. As Moi trying to contain these feelings to protect Nico. As how to guide Nico to make her confession. Which leads Nico to want to confess under the Lover's Tree.

SyBFSj9.png

25sIWfY.png

Sadly, things don't go the way Nico wants it because Komugi is a warlock. As there was difference in how both Nico and Nemu were brought up by their respective mothers, the same is for Komugi. She was meant to be a warlock and to help whoever is the mastermind behind all of this. Though even Nemu's mother cared for her daughter. That was no such case for Komugi's mother. Sadly, for her, capturing Nico makes her feel like she is serving a purpose. The worst part is that the eclipse is about where Nico would be trapped rather than the actual date of the eclipse.

qvvSFBE.png

iAXn9dE.png

dacrwrJ.png

Now, as Komugi has planned, she has separated the familiars so that each of the allies will fight with one another. Normally, a matchup with Keigo/Wolf would be a matchup in their favor, but Komugi has prevented him from being able to transform to Wolf. Kind of really shows that through this whole time hiding through the shadows, she was manipulating things. Even in the most recent chapters. Though I do love that while Keigo does get a good feeling from fulfilling his duty, there is a big difference. There is love given to Keigo by his mother and Nico in terms of friendship. It felt like a shock that his mother knew that Keigo was Wolf. She accepted for who he is, unlike Keigo's mom.

Fd6v0SC.png

cq8nWDc.png

3URbL4F.png

It does feel given the call he made to Nemu, she will most likely be the key to help him transform. For Mahiru his battle of attrition isn't looking good because essentially, he is continuing to taking damage despite healing. I wonder for him if Jekyll and Fran will be around.

Night Light Hounds - Chapter 12:

I thought we were getting a more down to earth chapter, but we got a few things regarding Lili.

Who is Marna? Just her mentioning how she is fake gives me a feeling of perhaps before becoming a werewolf she was Marna? If that is the case, does she have memories of her time as Marna which is why would Jimmy remind her of someone from her past? Really curious to learn more.

Roy watching them before meeting them is smart. Although turning Jimmy into a proper gangster will be a bit of work.

Pretty nice to get a more in-depth exposure of these other Warlocks. As Mahiru goes up against Akia we learn to understand her. Honestly, just coming off Komugi and how her family basically groomed her to be a warlock. For Akia it was the complete opposite. She had loving parents, but they clearly were too afraid of her magic. As we see with her current design, it basically implies she has become rebellious and honestly, you can't blame her for it. Though Mahiru was right on the money that her parents still loved her even if they handled her wrong.

J6KoQeN.png

9wT7WH7.png

Love seeing Jekyll and Fran doing what little they can do for Fran. It wasn't too much, but it was enough to checkmate Akia. Given how fast her attacks came out, Mahiru had to react first and really couldn't learn. Kind of shows how taking a different angle can give you the insight on what to do. Blinking was key, and it is not blinking if you don't open your eyes.

Tokiyo's magic is rather odd. He can enter one's dreams where his strength depends on said person's dreams. The fear of Tokyo replacing Kanshi obvious gave him strength. Though for Kanshi the wounds that he received from Tokiyo only show on his real body, but the wounds that he had entering the dream are still there. Those wounds are from training with Moi and those wounds show how strong Kanshi truly is despite the silly act he has around his friends. It makes sense Tokiyo would be cowardly once he couldn't defeat Kanshi in his dreams. Though their encounter with what seems like the mangaka of Uron Mirage.

S6lccx6.png

ih2PHbz.png

Honestly, gotta be impressed that Keigo held off for as long as he did. Though I do like that Nemu coming to help him transform into Wolf wasn't a predictable outcome. Rather, it gave a focus on Nemu herself. As now, she can transform into a cat, hawk or rat. On her way here, Nemu recalled seeing the lake that was in the shape of the crescent, and we even got foreshadowing when Kogumi and Keigo were together. No surprise, Wolf was able to take care of Komugi with no issue. Luckily, now Nico is safe.

5tn23Mp.png

The only fight left is Moi against Ran. Honestly, the difference from their first encounter is clear as day as Moi is holding up his own. Though Ran's strength as an immortal warlock and his ogre background makes him the toughest foe by far. I do love that Moi who tries to do everything by himself, asks Mahiru for help. Interesting bit that a gag that was used earlier is the key to this fight. Using the twilight rose would be equivalent to Mahiru using soul steal without it endangering Mahiru's life. But executing this strategy is hard, but thanks to Momochi the opportunity is there. Granted, I do wonder if it truly is enough.

Looking for some manga to read brehs.

Last anime season made me go read Blue Lock (ended up on the bleh side) and Dandadan (chances to end up being a classic).

Also checked out Akane Banashi but it didn't really grab me like that, specially after MC gets to talk to the old guy that ruined her dad's career.

Don't really wanna read Frieren yet, same as Vinland Saga. I'm able to stay away and wait for the anime for those.

SpyxFamily I binge read like three times a year normally. Tengoku Daimakyou I wanna wait a couple of more issues before I binge read the latest arc.

Should I finally start Chainsawman part 2? :patrice:

What other good manga out there that have 3-4 arcs already completed (at minimum) out there? :feedme:

Wait on chainsawman part 2, arc isn't finished yet you'll just be left hanging, chaos happened so quick and casually it probably won't even hit fully until animated.

I'm actually about to go read grimgar :manny: finally watched the first season and need more

I just finished Solo Leveling and was disappointed as hell :mjlol: I called it back on whatever episode the Japanese s ranks showed up to spar, all of these characters are jobbers and continue to be jobbers for the ENTIRE story :skip: shyt is "I died and got reincarnated as a OP RPG character"

I'll be on board for the dope animation but I swear nikkas let good animation magically turn a basic plot to the some goat level shyt :dead:if this has regular animation it'd be no different than any other isekai

A breh in the anime thread posted "the series is called SOLO Leveling for a reason" and since then it really hit me that I shouldn't expect anything but fukkery from that show so I don't get disappointed by it :pachaha:
