@Billy Ocean

Drake also opened up for Lupe before

:mjlol:

But yeah, Lupe's a nobody to these guys

Just in case they think one time was a coincidence :sas2:

nikka rapping on a Lupe mixtape track on his mixtape. Same flow & everything :mjlol:

What's this :wtf:

Mind you, this the same song where he's rapping in that "gibberish, smart dumb nikka shyt" style

I swear you low frequency new age hiphop kats don't even have clue why they say ignorant ass sayings with this thread. I was never a fan of these two and although they dropped good albums, you act like shyt was the greatest thing that happened to hiphop IN 15 YEARS. What have you been listening to in that time span? We( Golden Era fans) never use to put words like "classic" everytime our favorite mc's came out with a new record. It's only gotten bad around the last 15 years where heads who claim to be hiphop heads speak on these terms. You newjacks always listen to like maybe 10( maybe 10) hiphop artists in a year or lifetime and claim everything they drop is classic. Hiphop artists been putting out hot shyt but since they ain't signed on no major or hyped on the internet websites, it's not a priority to listen to.

Neither of these albums are classics.

To have a classic your album has to have some kinda impact on the genre. Whether you set the bar for the game that inspires and influence the current or next generation of rappers, or just shut down shyt period with huge hits and sales and define the sound for that period in time.

Between these 2 I only recognize 3 potential "classics" in their catalogs, for their time anyway.

thats why rap fans are the worst! instead of enjoying and appreciating that we got some amazing material (classic or not, that's everyone's personal opinion) in this day and age from quite a few artists (Lamar, Lupe, KRIT, Cole, CyHi, Gibbs are the ones I listened to these 5,6 months - top notch stuff mostly - and arguably Drake who's just not my cup of tea), there's typing wars going on who's influenced who, why this one is worse than that one etc.

less bytching around, more appreciation!

I honestly think the new generation is scrambling to get their own accolades partly because the old-heads told us we'd never have a golden age anymore. These two years '14-'15 have basically been a vindictive moment for anyone that's ever had to hear old-heads and even old hip-hop artists say: "Y'all age of hip-hop ain't shyt and it'll never be, compared to ours. We had the greatest and it's over. Too bad for y'all youngsters". After years of listening to that and the old heads being proven right with all the trash artists that came through – to further embarrass the new generation – every 90's and up nikka male wants to look at an old nikka and say:

"Look at who we got now! :umad:"

So everybody's sensitive nowadays because the truth is, we've been desperately waiting for our own Pac, Biggie whoever for old heads to acknowledge. Just so we can tell our kids: "This is what greatness looks like nikka, and y'all ain't got it! Also, y'all are really killing hip-hop, it ain't what it used to be.":old:

Just human nature @ play really.

Testuo & Youth, if compared, wins it out. TPAB has better music overall, but it's still quite close there TPAB does have a more cohesive feel, despite it also having an initial, jarring effect to some people, as T&Y's cohesion is moreso thru each season, rather than collective (it still gels together quite well tho). Lupe's lyricism, rhyming and concept edges out K. Dot's though, simply as how deeply layered it is, whilst still having a lot of pleasant surface value to it as well (which his haters undermine quite a bit there, you can listen to T&Y on surface level and enjoy it for what it is as well as digging deeper). I will say that TPAB is the first full album I've been album to play repeatedly thru since hearing T&Y tho, so that's quite the accomplishment in itself.

Sorry breh, I'm not letting these stans run around saying dumb shyt, spread false info, and undermine other MCs just because their favorite rapper (& one of mine too) just dropped an album.
:camby:

The other day a nikka said that Kendrick was the first big mainstream rapper to drop a funk/jazz album since the 90's...

I think it's that but also the fact that there is a generation gap with old heads and new that butt heads without the proper teachings. Alot of the Golden Age MC's got big headed and didn't do their jobs to instill the culture in them. Also the record companies helped to divide it further. There are so dope artists out there doing it big for the younger generation but it's up to the new generation to represent them.

Lol there's so many stans on here. I think dudes just need to have their own opinion's, and there's some who do that, and are genuine. But there are a bunch of groupie ass people, they don't judge the music, the dikkride the artist they've chosen to dikkride stubbornly. Any artist I don't care if it's my GOAT or whatever, I'mma be honest about their albums and what I think, any artist in general.

My position on this shyt is, Kendrick's album was better, but I have thus far Lupe higher than Kendrick as an artist if I were to make a list. The fact I have Lupe higher doesn't mean I have to think his album is better than Kendrick's, because I'm judging solely the music.

It just seems like constant stan wars with SOME on here, it's like 2 opposing teams rather than objective critiques of the ALBUMS or the MUSIC, it seems some have a stance and rigidly stick to it no matter what. That's a shame I feel.

This of course doesn't apply to everyone.
