You're in my neighborhood fool! :krs:

This is my go to Black business. Been going to them since I was 9 years old. It's rare that Blacks own a beauty supply store so I make sure I support them EVERY chance I get. :blessed:

640? Hell no! I'm cool with people from the 40 since I went to school and grew up with them. I lived around Rock Creek. Now I'm further up New Hampshire Ave.

The new developments are contrasting with the neighborhood bc all the Blacks and Hispanics live in the row houses and older buildings, while the whites are living in the new, over priced condos and lofts on the Ave. Its crazy how much the demographics have changed but like I said in another thread, we're all hanging in there and trying not to get pushed out. So they're building around us.

Sankofa, Blue Nile, Pyramid Bookstore, the store that sold Black Greek paraphernalia, Rita's, Goins, The Penthouse, Foxy Playground, Dukes, Burger King, various convenience stores...Black owned businesses were in full force on the Ave during the 90's and early 2000's :ahh:

nikka I miss Madness, I mean the real Madness from the 90s/early 00s that was strictly on some DC shyt. :to:

Honestly, I wish I knew a way to spur interest in these areas that the whites are gentrifying now. PG has a plethora of well to do black people, it'd be great to see some of them help keep DC black. But yeah, the demos are nuts. Just on that Gresham and Georgia corner I posted alone you got pasty cacs, gays and trannies, pro black Afrocentrics, thug nikkaz, and college students all in one immediate area. It's too much goin on, but that's really the appeal of DC right now shyt's live and if you on any type of pro black shyt in general then Nile Valley is the place to be. Yall gotta hold on breh, black DC mean too much to the rest of the area especially black ass PG. :wow:

Madness, I forgot about Madness. I remember the rumor about Biggie shopping there when he had stopped in DC. I left out so many businesses like Sweet Mango, The Washington Chiefs, Wilson's and there was a Black owned nail salon across from Howard.

The cacs have already started complaining about shyt like the annual basketball tournament up Park View Rec. A damn cac said his cat couldn't go to sleep because of all the noise :stopitslime:. The cacs gonna try to reclaim PG next. Have you seen the plans for the MGM Grand Casinos at the National Harbor? That shyt is IMMACULATE :ohlawd:

Cuz, that's exactly why I voted for the casinos. My folks house in Ft. Washington so the shyt gon end up selling for WAY more than it would of had this shyt not went down. lol, I can't even imagine Biggie all up in Madness I know he used to be in da city but Madness is a far cry from all them Georgetown boutiques. I know 'face used to get big love out here back in the day, No Limit nikkaz, I never heard about Pac other than that dog attack story. Most rappers in DC's history got robbed or leaned on that'll always be one of the funny things about this place.

I can't see cacs taking PG tho, black people way too deep every level of the economic ladder is represented. At this point they'd have to move all the black people to the boonies in Charles, Cecil, Howard, Frederick, etc. I'm sayin wasn't the Caribbean festival canceled this year? More residual effects from the cacvasion. :beli:

that would really be cool b/c I been through dc/pg couple times.....it's lot of black excellence and a strong middle/upper class in pg/Montgomery/calvert/Charles....if the kids of them families roomed up and rented in DC....that would def help keep DC chocolate city

for some reason middle class blacks like to move to suburbs tho....it's just a ehh....they should stay in the cities and rebuild

PG one of them suburban black counties that the media never focus on...and what's crazy is it's a lot of black suburbs all across America that never get exposure but the plight of the inner city struggle is always broadcasted....
