Please show exactly where I said it was.

You explicitly said it started as a joke. It NEVER was a joke. At no point. I go put on some garb to incite fear in white people (or any other person or group of people), then that's terrorism. Plain and simple.

Actually, for two years, it most definitely was. They were a laughingstock no one took seriously......not even themselves. Look at the titles they gave themselves if you doubt.

That's what I meant.

All the other stuff (murder, terrorism) they did didn't start until after Forrest took charge.

Hopefully, this clears-up this misunderstanding.

Regardless of what people thought about them, they were actively trying to incite fear in Black people, harassing them and killing them. It was never a joke. At no point. Before or after Nathan Bedford Forrest. Terrorism started as soon as they put those costumes on and decided to fukk with Black people.

"As a matter of fact, however, the Ku Klux Klan did originate as a 'hilarious social club,'....."

~Invisible Empire: The Story of the Ku Klux Klan 1866-1871, pg. 9

"Hilarious Social Club"...yea, ok.

fukk whoever wrote that, their ancestors and anybody who agreed. That "hilarious social club" was actively terrorizing, harassing and killing Black people since it's inception. They weren't having harmless fun.

That didn't happen until Forrest was in-charge and they had more than 6 people.

You YOURSELF said, IN THIS VERY THREAD SEVERAL TIMES, that they were scaring Black people and "occassionally" killing them. They were stone cold terrorists before Forrest. I don't see why you're trying to dispute that.

....
Google 'Pulaski, Tennessee December 24,1865'

History channel had a whole doc about it, but, the 'Klan' was originally a group of Confederate vets that got drunk on weekends, put the hoods on and rode around acting like 'ghosts' to scare Black people during Reconstruction.

Forrest, and the Democrats, changed ALL of that in 1869 by co-opting the group and directing them to target the original Republicans.....Black people.....to put Democrats back in power....

The group went nearly defunct after that time ... until the movie The Birth of a Nation and scumbag President worse than Trump President Woodrow Wilson resurrected them.

The Wrong Side of the Tracks
"Bubbling over with the excitement of their newfound plaything, the young members of the new Ku Klux Klan decided to make a public manifestation of themselves; so, borrowing the familiar idea of the easy Halloween disguise, they wrapped themselves in sheets, mounted their horses and galloped through the streets of the little town, greatly enjoying the sensation they created - particularly the alarm and dismay of the negroes, to whose superstitious minds the sight of white-sheeted figures suggested nothing but spirits risen from the grave, and who accordingly fled to their homes in panic-stricken terror.

The successful effect of this entirely fortuitous costume was so satisfactory that it was adopted as the official regalia of the order....."
