I remember there was a ln article saying that the $20 million dollar QBs in the NFL dont win super bowls they accou r for so much of the cap space that it cripples the team when it comes to signing good talent. They just dont have the dough. people calling him dumb for not taking the max but hes trying to maximize his chances at winning.

They are trying to have a dynasty. To keep the team together multiple years the top stars will have to sacrifice $5M or so annually. If they don't and the core 4 all get the max, then not only will they naturally lose depth, but more importantly it will put enourmous pressure on ownership and management to trade one of the core guys in a few years because their luxury tax will be ridiculous.
