We’re getting country music next year, I thought we were getting it this year but Jay selfishly picked Kendrick

Gooddell won’t allow Jay to ignore the hottest music genre any longer
Post MAYBE. Nobody's touching Morgan Wallen. Anything else would be a collection of country acts where a huge chunk of the audience is taking a piss break.

As a celebration of black culture, hip hop culture, African American history, a victory lap and a funeral for Drake's career, it was great. I give it an A.

As a performance, it wasn't great to me. Maybe a C at best. It's not touching performances such as Beyonce, Prince, J Lo/Shakira, etc.

- The acoustics/sound was poor

- I wanted him to hit more of his classic records.

- Wanted more SZA

- Energy overall wasn't there. Wanted more power.

- Rap music is already a hard enough genre to transfer to a stadium stage and maintain the same magic, let alone when its censored with pour sound quality.

A lot of people aren't going to be fully honest about this one because Kendrick is up right now and everyone hates Drake, but the truth of the truth. I felt it should have been more. I was drunk AF though, so I'ma watch it again after work. I ended up like Rihanna's performance more after initial watch too.

But yeah, it's okay to love Kendrick and still be disappointed. Doesn't invalidate his genius. Some of ya'll never woulda made it through being a Lupe Fiasco fan after Lasers dropped in 2011. Ya'll woulda been fumbling around pretending it was a masterpiece n shyt to keep up appearances :pachaha:

what i liked:
  • great theme with samuel l jackson playing uncle sam or zip c00n dandy (maybe both?) to help transition to each stage
  • kendrick did a good job for a solo performer...i know sza was there but she made an appearance for 2 songs i think. carrying a super bowl performance all over the field isn't easy
  • great choreography
  • this was a big moment for hip hop and kendrick is deserving to be the first rapper to headline a SB halftime show.
what i didn't
  • audio was terrible.
  • setlist should've been different. the start of his performance was underwhelming because of the songs and audio.
  • the marketing for this and show was basically a big lead-up to not like us and i think that took a lot away from the actual performance.
  • sza lip-syncing :francis:

So you are basically saying it was mid too.
So you intentionally chose to ignore where I specifically wrote “the performance was good”? Does good=mid?

Look it’s a very popular thread, with mad pages. I’m a assume you didn’t see, or chose to ignore my other post:

:russ:Nice try. I give it a 7.5 out of 10. Would you consider that mid? If so then to you that’s mid. Some think mid means anything under 8 is bad (not even lying about that, breh). Or literally the middle like a 5 is mid. To me 7.5 is good, not great.

I can’t even name 10 performances period other than MJ, Prince, the Dre one, Rihanna etc. I wasn’t even old enough to fathom the MJ, and Prince ones while it happened (being there in the moment probably made them even more special). People were hating on the Weeknd one. For what I remember, I liked it. Oh and Justin Timberlakes first one (the Janet Jackson one) was great from what I remember. Actually as horny young lad at the time that probably was my favorite for the wrong reason.

I’ve seen some say Kendrick’s was the woat. If it was (I don’t need to watch every superbowl halftime to know that it wasn’t). Then there’s never been a bad or mid halftime performance ever.
