The War Report
NewNewYork
I think the sound is what brought it down a notch.
Na4 all-time selling rappers vs 1
They had less pressure to do more than just rap.
Bc of that pressure, kendrick added too much. Did too much “rapping”. That’s just too hard to hear and decipher in that setting. In real time I didn’t make out anything he said in that intro (new lyrics at a Super Bowl is a bad idea), didn’t even catch the ‘I wanna perform that song but they’ll sue’.
Lol, no, not at all..Folks are forcing themselves to like this performance. And if you didn’t like it, you're illiterate or missed all the symbolism, is what makes K.Dot fans just as corny as Drake fans.
Example of the delusion of Kdot stans caping for a wack performance. Now his music is not mean to the be heard in stadiums. lol. Stans are trying to say he did a bad performance on purpose cause it's about the message not entertainment.. lol. If that's the case then let Lupe fiasco do the halftime show next. The message wasn't hard to get. its not like it was exactly subtle. Only dumb people think its deep. Yes we can hear sam jackson quite well and yes we see black men forming the flag with the colors on their backs etc. It's not that deep. Beyonce had a more pro black performance this past christmas and hers was more entertaining and visually captivating.
And let me not get started on Serena. This is a 43 year old woman that made a fool of herself. She is "Pro black" but bleaches her skin, wears a ragiddy blonde wig, bedwenching and married to cac, and still apperently obsessed over her ex biracial boyfriend all while throwing up gang signs and crip walking like a fool in front of the world. The whole performance was soft shoe c00nery to be honest. Cause ultimately the white folks just enjoyed watching 1 black man tear another black man down. Thats the only message that resonated and the only thing folks are talking about.
One might need to ask if white culture and corporate america is so comfortable with kendricks message is it really revelutionary or a threat to those same institutions? Talyor swift and the swities are like us? Walmart, pepsi, target and all these compnaies that just got rid of DEI and caved to trump are like us? If not then why are cacs and corporate america so comfortable participating in this "cultural" moment if the culture is truly "pro black" like yall claim it is? Now thats a rabbit hole thats deep. But yall aint ready for that discussion.
The blackest super bowl ever? That performance was kendrick to the bone. Dude loves telling a story and symbolism and metaphors.
