Back in the day it was mandatory to have clean versions. The domination of the internet nowadays vs" over the air" broadcast where censorship is important has really dialed the need for that back. But I do think it was needed tonight.
The death of clean versions has led to a culture of pure vulgarity. Cant even play songs around kids like you used to

Man, I don't know why you think Lil Wayne is bigger than he is, this shyt might be worse.

I also know bro would perform Lollipop which is one of the worst songs of all time, don't nobody wanna hear that shyt.:pachaha:
Wayne is bigger than most. Check the stats. Besides Drake he has the most top 10s, most billboard entries, most top 40s etc.

He’s from a different era when you couldn’t escape his music on tv and the radio so he’s well known by all ages.

He could just do a section of Lollipop. A verse and hook etc.

Yall do too much to hate as if Kendrick didn’t just perform Peekaboo and a random unknown song :mjlol:

I give it a 6.5-7/10 overall. The track list was eh, and the censorship took away from a lot. Maybe I’m crazy but I didn’t hear any mic issues?

Visuals were a 9/10 for me. Rap is always going to be hard to do at the Super Bowl if you don’t have a clean version of a song. Tupac was the king of the radio and album version, rappers need to take note
The mic issues I heard, at least when it was live, was it sounded low. The YouTube version sounds much better.

But yes he did need a clean version to help. I will say even with a clean version, rap is hard to do at a Super Bowl especially if you’re moving around.

That shyt is fukking stamina, no wonder he was talking about doing 6 miles a day :dead:

Anyone saying mid i’ll assume you have some kind of hate for breh. 90% of people saying mid. I bet a quick search of post history would prove my point. The performance was good. Definitely not the best ever, and definitely not the worst. Simple as that. Hip hop was represented well tonight (I think it was represented well when Dre headlined to).

So what you’re saying is…it was somewhere…in the middle? :jbhmm:

And christ you Drake stans are grade A certified pathetic, ya boy lost, it's over, get over it!

Only way to counter this is if his ass performs at the World Cup next year.

Be for real, there is only 3-4 songs on there that sound good in 2025 and that is if Wayne can get through them. The only upside of Wayne performing is him bringing out Drake or Nicki so they can carry his set.:pachaha:

I thought the first half felt a little low energy and underwhelming live....and then I heard the YouTube version.

I'm happy now. Poor audio shouldn't be a fukking thing for something like that, because who besides fans of the guy, or hip hop heads are gonna go watch it twice?

I think the throughline of Uncle Sam asking him to conform and perform the melodies and safe shyt America likes, and thus compromise himself and his artistic integrity, and him ultimately resisting was dope.

I'll also say that his Mr. Morale concert on Amazon is one of the best hip hop performances i've seen in a long time. And what I saw THERE had my expectations through the roof. This was not that, but i'm very pleased.

I'd also be fine if he NEVER performs NLU again. I'm very cool with that in the rear view.
Yooooo I peeped it live & said this motherfukker even with the biggest look he gets, he’s gonna be clever with how he performs his songs to the masses. It was To Pimp a Butterfly-esque.

Ken Artistic as fukk.

I say this being that they were in New Orleans and Kendrick represents the West Coast, which alienates many outside of Cali.

I just come from the South always getting disrespected in hip-hop. They couldn't get NOBODY to even appear from Louisiana?!

You see they aint do that in LA

Dr Dre in La was the FIRST time a musical act had ever corresponded to the city of choice. It was a one time thing. And it’ll probably never happen again.

Kendrick Lamar was the hottest rapper of the year. Nobody from the south, north, or east was touching him. Its got nothing to do with the South and everything to do with who was the biggest credible name they could get. I live in Atlanta, I didn’t bytch about them having Maroon 5 of all bands play the Superbowl because thats just what it was. Jay-Z has done a masterful job of getting black performers that look and to me THATS the victory here. It matters little where their from as long as they can put on a good show. Kendrick put on a good show. Thats all that should matter at the end of the day.
