Just having your clean version be the explicit with blank outs leads to a situation like tonight where it sounds like you're running out of breath and/or forgetting lyrics but you're really self-editing basically on the fly. Back in the day it was mandatory to have clean versions. The domination of the internet nowadays vs" over the air" broadcast where censorship is important has really dialed the need for that back. But I do think it was needed tonight.
