breh you are delusional, the st thomas economy is controlled by whites through their control of banking and tourism (and hovensa), thats just a fact, if you add the arabs and hispanics its just a fact that economically black people are marginalized and control only a small part of the economy and they control the politics (which admittedly is a trump card for blacks), and i saw dominicans all over the place when i was there

and mom and pop shops are not comparable to multinational corporations, just stop it, your economic ignorance is just embarrassing
I am not comparing small businesses to multinational corporations but if they money gotten from multinational corperations are being used to make black businesses how is that a bad thing.

Arabs and Hispanics havent passed blacks nor do they own bigger economy than blacks so dont even try that.

i didnt say it was a good thing or bad thing, what i said is that the st thomas economy is dominated by whites and corporations and if you add the arabs and Hispanics (to the whites) black people only control a small part of the economy with politics being the black trump card

Thats the thing though. Hispanics arent united with whites financially and Arabs are just as reliant on the corporations as blacks as a way to get funds for their own businesses and their lack of activity in politics holds them back even more so I find it odd to combine the Arabs and Hispanics with whites.

Id say that blacks are a definite second to whites financially.

When I was STX i noticed this...

For example most of the resturants I saw appeared to by white people and catered to tourist. Not to mention STX has large corporate interest like Mcdonalds, Pizza Hut, Office Depot, Walmart etc littered throughout the island, these aren't black owned companies...

you can combine it anyway you want, im just pointing out the position that blacks are in, black people dominate politically but economically they do not dominate and are actually marginalized

He's just trying to say that nonblacks are taking potential opportunities away from blacks. And that blacks are too accepting of foreigners when we if tried to setup shop in their homeland probably wouldn't fly as easily

y0 twism, the Chinese have also began too setup shop in the carribbean.

i feel bad that you live there and have never noticed this and i have to be the one to break the news to you, no wonder its the way it is, i guess black people in the VI like yourself dont even realize how marginalized they are and are delusional about their economic position
You made it look like arabs and hispanics passed blacks and are up there with whites which is a definite no.

man i went on a day trip on a boat to the british virgin islands, and it was with a bunch of people that are colloquially known around here as "cacs", and the colloquial term for me would be nikka, so i was a "nikka" in a boat full of "cacs" as they say in the coli, which was cool, i had fun

but yo when we got to this island called Pussers that is just a a tiny island with a restaurant, all the servers and waiters were black and everybody getting served was white, it felt like some colonial/plantation shyt, it was mad awkward

pic of Pussers Island (everybody needs to check out this place tho, its gorgeous)

A lot of those have black franchise owners.

The Mcdonalds one and the Subway one I knew personally.

what i said is that the economy is dominated by whites, and if you add the arabs and hispanics to that its obvious that black people are marginalized economically despite their political power

for example, using your own words and logic st croix is dominated economically by whites through hovensa, that means in st croix black people are marginalized economically, it doesnt matter how many mom and pop shops or franchises black people have

Blacks are still doing quite well in the islands despite a few white corporations involvement in the area.

It does matter how many black business that black people have because it shows less of a reliance on the white corporations for funds and employment.

but that's not a counterpoint to what i said, i said that the st thomas economy is dominated by whites and you had a hissy fit, sure black people are doing well (if you say so) that doesnt change the fact that the economy is dominated by whites which means black people are marginalized

and you were the one that said that blacks relied on jobs from white corporations to fund their business not me

and black business do not matter unless they are going head to head with the white corporations that dominate the island economy

My issue is your downplaying of how black people were doing. Like you did now with the (if you say so) comment.

They could of just been working the jobs with full reliance on the companys but many chose to start black businesses which decreased reliance on the job since they had other sources of income. I used the word "less" for a reason.

Black businesses do matter even if its small in which its a start in the right direction to gaining business experience and making more people business aware so we can start building enough to go at white corporations.

In fact if we had more in the US we would do much better.
