My issue is your downplaying of how black people were doing. Like you did now with the (if you say so) comment.

Well they could of just been working the jobs but many chose to start black businesses which decreased reliance on the job since they had other sources of income. I used the word "less" for a reason.

Black businesses do matter in which its a start in the right direction to eventually going at white corporations.

In fact if we had more in the US we would do much better.

i dont have any response to what you are saying, its just gibberish

i stand by my statement that the st thomas economy is dominated by whites and multinational corporations and blacks are marginalized economically

So you dont agree that blacks should become more business oriented?

Say the problem but offer no solution?

cool.

man i went on a day trip on a boat to the british virgin islands, and it was with a bunch of people that are colloquially known around here as "cacs", and the colloquial term for me would be nikka, so i was a "nikka" in a boat full of "cacs" as they say in the coli, which was cool, i had fun

but yo when we got to this island called Pussers that is just a a tiny island with a restaurant, all the servers and waiters were black and everybody getting served was white, it felt like some colonial/plantation shyt, it was mad awkward

pic of Pussers Island (everybody needs to check out this place tho, its gorgeous)

lol Pussers isn't the name of the island. Pussers is a restaurant food chain in the Virgin Islands that's owned by a white man. The island in the pic is Marina Cay.

the solution is a different subject, but i made a statement about how whites and corporations control the economy and you had a hissy fit

im not feeling having a convo with you cuz you werent able to notice something your whole life that i noticed in a few days

and how you gonna try to make a solution to a problem that you say doesnt exist?

if you want to talk about solutions, first you have to admit that there is a problem then you should make a thread about it

You downplayed black peoples position in the USVI and downplayed the black businesses there which is what made me argue with you.

yeah and you ended up proving that hovensa an american multinational corporation dominates st croix, and that black people depend on jobs at these white corporations to fund their business....that is what you said, not me

so using your own words its obvious blacks are marginalized economically, im not downplaying, im just stating facts that you yourself ended up proving

Nah, its different. But you are downplaying the black owned businesses in the Caribbean. The bigger companies are mostly likely white owned, but there are also several black businesses that owned and ran by black people.

:snoop:

i dont get it, if the bigger companies are owned by whites and there are "several black businesses that owned and ran by black people." then that means black people are marginalized economically in the caribbean

all you are doing is reinforcing my statement

Okay its something like this 3 out of 5 big companies are most likely white owned and 4 out of 5 smaller companies are most likely black owned.

Its more along those lines.

i think you are just making up numbers, the dominant industries in the caribbean are tourism and banking and the majority of those business are owned by whites and/or multinationals

if that isnt so, start naming the black owned hotels and black owned banks in the caribbean that are doing it big

Its something for people who took what they had in the islands and used a big company for their personal gain by making a business instead of saying fukk making a business and devoting all of their time to lining the companies pockets with money.

Once you make a business you can leave the corporation and it can become a family business as well and bring opportunity to employment separate from the big companies and can also expose the family to business and encourage the offspring to make business moves to expand all of which are the steps to become a big business themselves.

IWhich is why I think that the fact that they are making small businesses is a good thign because its a lot of potential there.
