Roddenberry envisioned the show as Horatio Hornblower in space. Hornblower was a British naval officer.

In one of the trek vids he says it is not a military organization Trekkies I think.

That is all I am going off of.

Watched today. Thought it was pretty dope. The villain was a G, very well acted. I was a fan of Kirk and Spock from the previous movie and the whole crew did their thing too.

I have 0 knowledge of Star Trek until I watched the previous movie when they rebooted the series, so I am a "casual" viewer I guess. Funny how when it comes to Marvel/DC movies I get hella irked when they fukk with the source material whereas in cases like this I'm :manny:

The movies are set in an alternative universe so they can switch things around freely without the fanboys getting :violent:

Movie was amazing. Best of the Summer thus far. Cumberbatch sh!tted on Kingley and Pierce and showed what a real villian is suppose to be. Also the Plot Twist in this actually was cool:

STAR TREK: WRATH OF KHAN EPISODE I should of been the title

JJ is going to murdered Episode VII. I've never seen a Star Trek movie that action packed, from beginning to end. Even the 1st one didn't have this much action. It was just a great sequel.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
I honestly didn't think they could top the first one but this flick was on point. They got the perfect cast. When the movie ended I was ready for the next mission. I was ready to go on the journey with them. :ahh:

The Klingon cameo was :ahh:..

As a trekkie the rebooted this the right way. JJ Abrams and eat off of this franchise for years to come. So many story possibilities :ahh:

I never say that video, but it`s well known that Roddenberry lost his mind as he got older and was forced to take a step back from Trek because he was ruining the franchise, but lets ignore my opinions on his mental facilities. Going by the logic of that quote, if my girl comes catches me in bed, naked with her best friend, and I say I`m not cheating, I guess she has no reason to be mad because I said I`m not cheating even though all the evidence shows otherwise.

Captain James T. Kirk: I'm a soldier, not a diplomat. I can only tell you the truth.

That quote was from the first season episode Errand of Mercy on Star Trek the original series.

Yea the original was the best but Cumberbatch still did a good job. He was just as menacing as Khan was and you could see him eventually growing into Khan, that's why it works. I had to pop in "Wrath of Khan" and watch it again and it's a Classic movie came out in the early 80's when I was young kid.

This was basically the prequel to that. Yo that Klingon scene was hard body. And the whole space suit scene. Just so many great visuals and scenes. And you really rooted for the crew for everything they been through. JJ is going to make a lot of Star Wars fans happy. This joint had homages to Star Trek and a little Star Wars. As well as Raiders of the Lost Ark in the opening scene. As Well as "Revenge of the Sith".

The problem with that quote is that the Enterprise wasn't a military ship, but an exploratory vessel. Literally everything about Star Trek, from the intro to the show to the majority of the plotlines contradict it. Also factor in the political context of the times- Roddenberry was deliberately creating a Utopian vision of humanity, not a militaristic one, in deliberate contrast to Cold War politics.

I just seen the movie and it was very good. Yes a generic story, But a good summer flick.

I agree Starfleet is the Federation Military.

The problem with that quote is that the Enterprise wasn't a military ship, but an exploratory vessel. I think some take Roddenberry's vision to literally. Starfleet is mainly about exploration and peace. But and a big but is the federation has fought wars. Now the Enterprise is not a warship but it is a heavily armed vessel one of the most powerful in the fleet that can stand toe to toe with other races warships.
