The business type matters but getting Black people to think about ownership matters even more.

The first business that folds is a lesson learned for the next one. The point is to get us in that frame of mind.

Business minded concepts come last.

Theres no point in talking about entreprenuership if cats aren't even qualified.

Thats the point.

Im all for black businesses...but you keep allowing bullshyt to prosper with your thinking.

raise the standard of what is considered a black business.

Lot of c00ns in here... first off you do not need to be a stem major to work at a tech company...there are plenty positions outside of programmers and engineers at these companies..
Sure. Human resources :mjlol:

You can work at google...in account relationships :mjlol:

Stop encouraging people to seek employment in fields that don't make change or influence direction. :pacspit:

Half these cacs dont know sh!t at these tech companies and got jobs based on hook ups and friends.
Is this an excuse? Cause it sounds like we need to work even harder then. Cause while starting the next google might not be possible, we damn sure better out compete anyone else when it comes to getting those jobs.

Silicon valley is the most racist and closed off old boys network type industry ouside of construction.
I've seen no proof of that, personally and from friends I personally know in that field.

And the reason is most of americas wealth is concentrated in those and cacs have a vested interest in keeping blacks away from the big money. Its not an.accident. if they really wanted qualified blacks working in these companys they could find them

OR nikkas ain't qualified.

Why are ya'll scared to address the fact that race alone ain't gonna get you these jobs???

No... I bring it up because skills won't cut it in isolation. A STEM major will still fail in the next few decades if they don't gear their minds for employment.
you're putting the cart before the horse.
anecdotes... you know better :comeon:
better than the lack of evidence you continue to not provide.

This c00n @Nigerianwonder said "you can work at google and not be an engineer or programmer" :troll:

No shyt dummy. Google needs paper pushers too :pachaha:
Ole, I just wanna scrape the barrel so i can say I work at google, face ass :pacspit: :stopitslime:
i speak from experience unlike most of yall. I actually used to be an engineer. I manage them now. Engineers and programmers are at the bottom of the totem pole and often taking orders and getting their checks signed by those "paper pushers".

I can speak on tech and construction cause ive worked in both industries.

but Whats wrong with HR? I know plenty of folks in HR making more than folks in stem fields. All these tech companies have HR managers, business analyst, project managers etc.. and all those tend to pay better and have more influence on a company than its engineers. A lot of peers when i was in engineering were very book smart but not business wise. if they were they would realize they can make twice as much while doing half as much work using their engineering background as a springboard into management like i did.

There is no expiration date on being able to think rigorously. The techniques you learn in school in STEM majors arent what is important. The mental acuity and discipline developed during the process is the real prize and that is why math, science and engineering graduates make so much out of school when compared to their less capable brethren. A STEM education says "I am capable of being trained in any intellectual pursuit."
It says "I have faced difficult problems and prevailed." As career fields become more abstract in nature, a STEM education shows a preparedness to cope with this new paradigm.

Well that's the catch...

Work for a White man and live comfortably but risk unemployment at their volition or struggle until you get your business off the ground and service the Black community

It's a tough position that most aren't willingly to take the risk. It's a similar dilemma to music artist with this indie vs 360 deal.. imagine if Black people used their skill-sets to create, own, innovate and solve problems in their communities but I understand it''s a individualistic, dog eat dog world. Can't knock someone for taking a wage under another person.

Do you own your own business or are you currently working for the "white man" ?

"Appeal to authority" :comeon: and I never said don't pursue a STEM major but for those of you who thinks that is going to be the end all be all and eating forever, you're in for a shock :russ:

You're not falsely equating the MBAs that run most companies (many of whom come from STEM traditions) with folks in HR and "business development" are you? :pachaha:

nikka no you don't. Stop lying :pachaha:

All these tech companies have HR managers, business analyst, project managers etc.. and all those tend to pay better and have more influence on a company than its engineers.
are we talking tech companies? Cause thats a damn lie. Especially if we're talking folks only working with a bachelors. Masters degrees change that equation

A lot of peers when i was in engineering were very book smart but not business wise. if they were they would realize they can make twice as much while doing half as much work using their engineering background as a springboard into management like i did.
but you couldn't make that leap without possessing the skills to understand what you were managing :umad:
