4:44 is Jay-Z's best track. Just poured out his soul on it to his wife and kids.
:mjlol: that may be the most boring Jay track ever

smile is the best track

Marcy me is second

the rest is average to trash

I was listening to the album yesterday because it's been a while. What stood out to me the most this time was the production. I remember what No I.D. said about using the samples as instruments, and I realized what he was talking about. It really does sound like live instrumentation, and the way the samples get played around make it seem like you're hearing a band.

With the samples it makes it seem like it’s the roots playing or something. Listening to Deangelo’s Voodoo album gave me a somewhat similar feeling production wise

I love it when a rapper makes a personal track. To me 4:44 might be the most personal track Jay has ever made. It's a totally different Jay-Z from the persona. He's like I messed up and I'm sorry. Jay usually isn't the type to admit flaws in his raps.

Maybe Anything comes close but that's about other people related to him rather than about him.
