My Pops Forever RIP
Star player signs supermax extension - “Wow, he’s fukkin the salary cap up and not giving his team the opportunity to build long term”

Star player signs extension a year early to give his team flexibility long term - “Nah, they need to investigate because the league and NBAPA shouldn’t allow this”
:ahh:
In @Houston911's NBA this phrase is no longer uttered.

Above the fray.
If you win in New York, your name rings forever. And you will make more than the difference of the deals back.
I don't watch or care much for hockey, but when they aired the Stanley Cup Finals, I knew who commentator Mark Messier was based on something he did 30 years ago.

If Knicks are a contender the next 4 years, rather than a bad team with a high scoring player, Brunson will strike Madison Avenue GOLD !!

What is there to investigate?
This was the maximum extension they could offer him this offseason
Obviously there's benefits for the Knicks but him turning it down would also be a risk
What if Brunson tears his ACL in game 1 next year and is never the same player again? He would never get paid. We've seen players turn down extensions for bigger money down the line and it blew up in their faces

this is what the league wanted right with the 2nd apron & effective hard cap
they wanted players to take less money and break up super teams...Mission Accomplished. Clay outta Golden State & PG outta LA. Boston will have to figure things out in a year or two. But this is an unintended, 1 in million scenario that actually benefited the Knicks. Also it'll be unlikely anyone else makes more than Brunson if he were willing to take a discount as the best player/leader of the team
