It feels like too many people in power want to ignore the more likely scenario because they area afraid of the "what if". Most people looked at Zion in college and said "A person that size shouldnt be able to jump and do the things he can on the court", and "he may need to shed some weight to lower the impact on his lower body".
People thought and said those things but the problem was, if you are an NBA GM and you dont select Zion then you are gonna get killed in the short term no matter what, and if he turns out to be a great player you will never get another NBA job. If you do draft him and his health fails him, you can always just blame Zion and nobody will fault you. Nobody is going to take the next step and ask "Well if you know there was a high chance of Zion having health issues and being unable to fulfill expectations why didnt you select Ja Morant instead.
