Boston will have to break that team up very soon. That second apron shyt is gonna hit them like a ton of bricks and that’s why the principle owner is getting the fukk out of dodge.

You’re doing the math wrong. Taking the max, having to trade Julius and/or Josh and not being able to replace them means you don’t win a chip. What would the championship endorsements in NYC look like vs being Melo in NYC?
:mjlol: No they're not. They are all locked in long term.

Yea bro. They changed the rules to punish owners who were willing to pay the tax. Catch up. Boston’s going to be losing draft picks, won’t have the mid level, won’t be able to participate in the buyout market. Won’t have the vet min. The actual tax is going to be 4x heavier. They’re going to be in situations where the only trades they can make are trades that hurt them because they can’t take on more money in trades. They also can’t trade two for ones in any deals. It’s going to be significantly harder for them to stay competitive past next season.

Denver just let a key member of there team go for nothing cause they didn’t want that smoke.

Meanwhile, Brunson is allowing the Knicks to remain competitive for the next 3-4 season.
:mjlol: Competitive in what way? Making the Playoffs and maxing out as an ECF exit? Dude took a massive paycut for a team that still isn't winning no titles. It was objectively a dumbass move by him and his agency and suggesting otherwise is hilarious homerism

The owners are selling the team for a reason. No mle, no first round draft pick and can't take more money byke in a trade
The owner was one of the least wealthy in the league. He was ALWAYS gonna sell lol. His whole mission was getting banner 18 and dipping. Yall really gotta stop speaking on things you don't know

The C's already have more draft capital than most, if not all other contenders. What on Earth are you talking about

And If they stay in the second apron, they lose those picks

….and? :mjtf:

You still havent acknowledged that you’re implicitly biased in favor of the team, not the player.

All those things you mentioned are still less adverse to a billionaire owner/team as it is to a player turning down 100m

Also what else does NY need?!? Dudes mentioning MLE and trades and blah blah blah they have 8 core players under contract :dead: They have half the 3&D wing defenders alive :heh: OG, Bridges, Josh hart, who else they need Scottie Pippen?! They have role players galore, side pieces, main pieces, same as Boston. Boston can’t do everything you highlighted yet look at their roster: they have everything they need. NY has everything they need. Buddy turned all that money down just in case they need to sign Dennis Schroeder for 12 mill :snoop:

New York still needs a backup center

This is still disingenuous. It assumes that next off season, Brunson would only sign for 3 years

However, it was unlikely that Brunson actually would have wanted to commit himself to New York beyond the 2027-28 season for one simple reason: That will be his 10th season in the NBA.

So let me get this straight, he’s playing it safe and taking the the money at 28, but he’s gonna roll the dice and try to re-up at age 32 :comeon:

My entire post was about roster construction and flexibility. Not Dolan’s fukking pockets. That has NEVER been a problem for a Knicks fan cause he always spent money. The problem was he was spending money on the wrong shyt. Matter of fact, Knicks fans were pissed because we finally have a team worth spending on and were scared we wouldn’t be able to spend the money finally because of the apron bullshyt.

But go ahead and pretend like championships aren’t won in the margins. The Celtics just proved it. What happens when KP or Horford go down and they have no viable way to replace him? Oh well right?

Porzingis did go down. :gucci:

But you listed the penalties thw Celtics will face. They are noteworthy , however ….they won! With no one taking any pay cuts. They are the WORST example to use for your point. JB and Tatum in back to back summers signed the biggest contracts in league history. Plus KP. Plus Derrick white signing a vastly overpriced salary. Plus whatever Jrue is making. No one took paycuts

So to get around roster restrictions what did they do? Sam Howser you’re up. Peyton Pritchard you’re up. That’s how you make organizations put work in, not taking a paycut.

And when you say roster construction, what exactly do you mean?

Brunson
OG
Bridges
Randle
Robinson
Bench: Hart, Divencenzo, Precious, McBride

Who is he saving money for prime Ewing?!?
