He's one of the few artist that actually went gold. How is he a dissapointment? Because he isn't on everybodys track on some Busta Rhymes shyt?
I'm a big J. Cole fan, but I didn't love the album. Probably around a 7/10 for me. I almost feel like he was trying to hard to appeal to too many masses, mainstream rap, his fanbase, women. I don't know if all the rumors about Jay-Z not wanting to put it out without some sort of hit single are true, but it almost sounded like the album was forced. I also feel like he dumbs himself down with all the curse words.
Hopefully working with Kendrick will help him see how to go back to just spitting and being a rapper.
The most respectable thing about Cole is the fact that he's not selling swag, controversy, beef, "shock posting", twitter lameness, an image of cars, bad bytches and a flashy lifestyle, a gangster image or anything like it. Thats why I think the label was shocked that he moved mad units, cause he's the only rappers besides the obvious exceptions Eminem and Lupe to do that in the past years.
I based that of J. Cole himself saying that.
I doubt the label was surprised,
doubt they would sign an artist they didn't think would sell.
Eminem is no exception by the way.
Maybe Lu, but even he has had controversy here and there.
Sorry for maybe f*cking up the interface of this page but what is this?Problem is he has nothing to rap about besides girls and being slept on and now he has a chick and isn't being slept on
