Well that's not the disappointing thing about him, his popularity doesn't mean much, it's the quality of what he's putting out, which really fell after FNL.

I'm not a big fan of his so I'll concede to you on that point. From posts on message boards and blogs it came off as he was supposed to be the next Kanye West in terms of 'blowing up'

Ive seen some of his big time fans complain about the singles from his latest album but they are still getting spins across the country and his fan base is growing because of it.

I was siding with Cole because of the grammy nom, platinum single, gold single, gold album, but MTV hottest MC list and Source Rookie of the Year :leon:

cut this fakkit shyt out breh... are u still carrying on this little hissy fit. Get off Sean's nuts.

Lame dikkridder "I know someone that knows someone that knows of him" :snoop:

rofl even i dropped that shyt

it used to me vs him, and now its him vs himself at this point. Cole already did his numbers, 2 gold singles and an album that's a couple 100k away from being platinum, grammy nominations. what more can I say?

ain't really nothing for me to argue for anymore. the whole debate of whether cole would be a star or not has absolutely zero merit now. the boy showed and proved. my job is done :jawalrus: plus I'm over 20 so I cant be on a grown mans dikk that hard on a daily basis.

nikkas gotta have some self respect :laff: I pray that Nigerian dude is under 16

I agree with the OP. When I heard The Warm Up I really thought he was the next Kanye as far as the production/MC combo and he could be an even better MC than Ye. Too bad the production on Cole World was less interesting than a stone in the ocean.

I've played a lot of his first mixtapes but if he wants to really be remembered as someone special imo he has to do two things:
1. More interesting lyrics and subject matter.
2. Step his production game up or work with other producers too.

J. Cole not being on the list got more shine and discussion than the actual list

Red Café and Maino were ahead of Cole, that was easily a marketing trick from Roc Nation.
Just like Asap rocky not being on the XXL freshmen thing, he got more shine than the cover cause he wasn't on it.

:what: half of the album was made up of songs like that.
Which songs are you referring to besides the first 2 singles (one of them being a bonus track).

Was probably the best single of 2011 after n'ggas in paris.
