Decided to go heavy on getting certs and paved out a plan for myself. Subbing this thread for potential future advice.

Any advice on simulating a network environment for practice without any actual switches etc?

Anyone got a good site for security + practice test? I feel pretty good about the concepts but I keep hearing about this performance based questions that are killers.

I just took it last week and passed. All the questions are all theory based and none of the practice test online were close to what I had. Study up on the CIA stuff and you should be fine. I had 72 questions total and the first 5 were labs. The rest were all best practice type questions. Good luck.

Were the lab questions crazy? I keep hearing they are killers. Did you find the test hard? Surprised the CIA stuff is a big part of the test

The labs were easy for the most part. there was one that was identifying hashing outputs and another was identifying the type of attack that was occurring on a network based on some syntax. Also there was one about a Nips and Hips/Hids placement on a network diagram. As far as CIA goes it was more like the applications of it. Knowing what would insure confidentiality or integrity. Stuff like that. I can tell you that it's all hypothetical for the most part so you really need to know best practices and honestly just use common sense.

So I read this thread few months ago, got me excited like IT was the thing and I was ready to switch over.

However I got no experience in the IT world but I did read up on few books, about few weeks ago I made calls and got lucked up.

So basically I got internship offer, I have the choice to be a Desktop specialist at a HUGE company (fortune 500)

or Jr System Admin at a small company.

IT folks....which one should I go for? :lupe:
Is it a paid internship? Idk shyt btw. Asking as someone who wants to jump into IT too
