as for myself, when i started college i KNEW i was getting a job to pay off that debt. now i just got debt. being 25 now, i wish i never went to college and just started my own hustle... now im dependent on the man..

I know what you mean, but always remember, You have your whole life to hustle and do something on your own, but you only have a short time to build a career.

I would say that a good percentage do not really know what they are getting themselves into.

For one they are conditioned to believe that college is the only way to go to guarantee yourself a higher paying job. This is public pressure.

Most of your friends are probably going to college and many are also dorming, this also plays a huge role into the decision making of many 18 year old kids. This is peer pressure or seeking acceptance.

If your parents went to college and are successful? Then chances are they almost force you to get into college even if they might not be in the position to help you out with your expenses. This is parental pressure.

Trying to search for a job? You log into careerbuilder only to find shytty ass jobs that require at least a bachelor's degree.

Most are fukked, pick a nice university...drop 40K per year or so in tuition fees and don't think twice about it since the government gives this cash out to anyone.
People really need to consider their options...there are more than ever now. Community college is the way to go for those who don't have mommy and daddy paying for everything. My credit per hour @ my community college was $130, it was $460 at my university. I could not imagine paying that for the full 4 years.

Economics needs to play a larger role in high school, especially given our economic climate these days. Nothing elaborate like a college eco class, but a good foundation. Get rid of this whole money is not everything bullshyt people be on, MONEY IS everything in the United States.

I just going to say that High School dropped the ball in the education cycle. Kids are not get the basic training or knowledge to obtain meaningful jobs. Majority of these job don't warrant any major schooling, but the quality of public education is so bad that they have to create barriers.

meh I don't know if I believe that as much as I used to. At the end of the day its mostly discipline, many don't even retain a high percentage of whatever it is they went after in college.

A strong start with Economics is important because it is something we deal with every day of our lives, NOBODY is going to forget it if they are forced to learn because the minute you step outside you are bound to these set prices all around you. I am just not sure what to cut at this point, extending the hours is not an option either as after a while you can only retain so much any given day. Beating it into someone is not always the answer.

Blah, its not as easy as just "get an engineering degree and :eat: breh"

as with most fields you still need a competitive gpa when graduating, some networking, and some type of experience to get a decent gig.

Trust me, i know. *recent EE graduate working on getting a j-o-b*

Every interview I got asked for my transcripts.
I had to provide my transcript for my last employer as well, but I really doubt those guys looked over that shyt in great detail. Just to confirm I got my degree.

Maybe they did check the GPA, but I figure if they never asked about it then maybe it wasn't that important :manny:

say breh how much debt are you in. I saw a sh*tload of scholarships that were for African Americans majoring in Physics and Engineering.

These weren't just a measly $1,000 scholarship. The majority of them paid for the full tuition(4-5 years), spending cash and paid internships.

I don't think anyone would be in here calling college a waste if they were debt-free and had a free ride......

Right now I'm in the process of securing some scholarships and boosting my GPA before I transfer....

:smh: @ having to a apply a full year in advance to a UC :scusthov:

a lot can happen in a year....
