The current student loan debt from federal loans is $1.64 trillion dollars. Which means colleges and universities across the country earned $1.64 trillion in revenue from the government.

The federal government has no problem giving $100,000 loans with no restrictions to an 18 year old with no income, and no work history. But can’t give out small business loans.

And all you’re paying for is a piece of paper. A label, that doesn’t even guarantee you a job to pay it back. Information is already free. So you shouldn’t have to pay for education.

Its levels to it breh. The reason those loans are so easy to get is the money isnt coming from a bank. Its taxpayer money.

Big gov hands it out like candy, the majority going to the school. The schools, much like the military and pretty much everywhere else tax dollars are spent, are in bed with the government.

At the end of the day they are little more than just another not so slick sleight of hand tax money laundering scheme these socialism for me not for thee elites have been running on the public for quite some time now

edit: its yet another reason i hit the every time some well off snooty racist cac mentions "his" tax dollars going to welfare recipients. That student loan that got him where he is is easily ten fold what the average person will ever see from gov assistance in their life time.

And even IF they pay it back, its not like that money is being returned to the tax payers it came from. i.e. welfare recipients like ME still get up and go to work and pay the 50 gazillion other day to day taxes they came up with to rob us all blind.

Obviously it's a business, but it's only a scam if you let it be a scam.

There are some careers that do actually require a degree, and in the long-term people who go to college make more money. Is it for everybody? No, but that doesn't make it a scam.

As i said above its a business that sells tax payer dollars intended to be distributed back to the interests of those who control those tax dollars.

Like all public safety nets its a necessary evil but it will always be a scam at its very core. Whether or not the recipient benefits is a toss up but those running the scam will ALWAYS win.

Sorry breh but 'free' college was subsidized by yours and everyone's pocket. It's all tax payer money. Now the only difference is you get a taxpayer loan but you're responsible to pay it back or face some consequences in your life.

The real issue is that education has gotten very expensive. Bloated administrations who are good for nothing need to go. I get spending money on research, labs and facilities that's what you're supposed to do as the number 1 country in the world and if you want to continue being that and fostering world class talent. Problem is secretaries and janitors shouldn't be making close to $100,000.

OP is half right. If you are not going to school for Professional Degrees or STEM degrees, your degree is most likely worthless. Way too many people go to school to get a degree that don't really need it at all

A degree isn't a scam per say. It's the over-saturation of the amount of people enrolling in college that is a scam
