If you read the story it tells you they only have the series S and the PS4 to choose from since ps5 and series x stock is non-existent there. The ps4 also isn’t much cheaper than the series S there.
”Pricing is also a factor,” says one nationwide retailer. “With the difference being just Rs. 5,000 between the two, more seem to be opting for the Series S.”
The Xbox Series S India price is Rs. 34,990 while the PS4 has a price of Rs. 29,990. Sony recently increased the PS4 price by Rs. 2,000.
That said, many aren’t expecting Microsoft’s lead to extend into May and beyond. Reason being, this May and June sees PS5 restocks.
I did read it...you seemed to skip this part
”We weren’t expecting customers to choose the Series S over the PS4 when both are in stock,” claims one store executive on the condition of anonymity. “A lot of them are just doing it for Xbox Game Pass, in fact the number one request is to help them set up Game Pass for GTA V.”
Different products work for different demos.
Not everyone in the world is as heavy into gaming as the Arcadium. It's not marketed for the majority of this forum. The Series S is just enough for a lot of people

Gonna be at least $50 cheaper, hopefully by holidays. Gonna be one of the fastest price drops in history.
Its not a bad console, but it should be cheaper. Too many compromises; less space, weaker GPU, no disc drive.
Its a beautiful console, I prefer the look of it, over the series x. But I figured I rather pay the extra $150 here in Canada and get the Series X instead. Also the price is too close to the digital PS5. In the long run it should be okay, because it will be cheap, but for now, it ain't it.

not everything is for American enthusiasts, cheaper consoles like series s will be very popular when the new Gen really comes around. 4k 60fps is not realistic for many people
